good goalkeeper BUT that monumental cock-up was coming but SHOULD NOT have come, because it should hve been nipped at the bud after the warnings against Brighton NOT TO BE flash & cocky yet he fcuking tries it again....It put us under uneccessary extra pressure for rest of game
Did he fall over or was he pushed over? Even after it was a cockup he still had a chance to put it out for a corner but didn't and just tried to stand over it and then fell over!
He never made a mistake last season that lead to a goal. I'd be more concerned if he dropped a cross or let in a soft one. Easy eradicate that he did today.
Glad thats over with. It was always going to happen, thankfully it happened at a point were we had a 2 goal start. Colm up aside it's great to have a keeper that makes easy saves look easy.
He was lucky to get away with one against Murray last week too. Hopefully Klopp gets the message home and it's great it didn't cost us. Easily fixable and looks a very good keeper otherwise
Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Alisson revealed he had a chat with Van Dijk after the game over the incident. “It was bad judgement,” said the Brazil international. “I made a mistake reading the play. I didn’t get a very good pass. We talked about that in the dressing room and I spoke to Virgil. It wasn’t a good pass but I could have just kicked it long. “I wanted to keep playing and keep the possession. Now everyone is going to analyse that. I’m not going to be stupid and make the same mistake. We have to learn from our mistakes. “It is part of my game (playing with the ball at his feet) but I am not going to be arrogant to stand here and say I’m going to keep doing it. We have to learn from our mistakes.” Alisson added: “If it is necessary the dribble has to be the last resort. Unfortunately today it caused the goal. “I actually think it was a foul but I don’t want to blame it on that. In the Premier League it’s not the kind of contact that results in a foul. It’s part of the game. I just have to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
Seems like everybody is reacting to it exactly how we should. It was a stupid mistake, the chances of it happening again diminish because of it and he's looked very solid and commanding apart from that. So we move on just as confident in him as we were yesterday.
It's amazing how many times keepers, having turned into trouble decide to take on a forward instead of the far less risky option of just putting it out for a corner
I was really hoping he could stay flawless for 8-10 games before any type of mistake but what can ya do. It was a complete brain fart moment... hopefully it's lesson learned and if in any doubt hoof the thing especially 2-0 up away from home and cruising. Another clean sheet would have been great but 12 points after 4 games will do just fine. I don't think he's the type to let it effect him negatively... just move on...
I'm glad the narrative from Alisson and Klopp seems to be that this was completely the wrong thing to do. None of this, 'you have to accept things like this will happen when you try to start attacks from the back' bullshit. What he attempted to do was ridiculous
Think in Italy he would have got away with it and been given a foul for been pushed but now knows not in the premiership . No harm done
Better making the mistake in a league game than in a CL final. Too dangerous to keep doing it as forwards are now expecting him to turn on the ball. By the way, Henderson’s and VVD’s roll in the lead up to the goal shouldn’t be ignored. 2 miss placed backward passes when more composure was needed.
