Absolutely... but making a trade off between important defensive duties and being fast at getting up the wing, does not mean he's not a shite defender because he is and he's proven that beyond shadow of a doubt. I've previously suggested that I saw more merit in keeping him if we we moved him into a midfield type role and I stand by that - if we did, he'd immediately progress from being a shite defender to being an average midfielder, who would attract little criticism for his dodgy defending.
Im obviously incapabable of articulating the point Im making here because every time I make it I get told by somebody why they think Moreno is shite.I definitely give up at this stage,Klopp is intentionally playing somebody he thinks is shite because he's fast and will probably make an audacious move to replace him next season with Usain Bolt.If Rio Ferdinand can be a boxer why can't Bolt be a footballer for a manager, when he has the only quality that manager is looking for from a LB in abundance.
Bolt is a United fan, I wouldn't have him at the club with the way he's paraded himself about. In truth Babbs there's little point in trying to make a point that is against the general consensus because once someone has formed an opinion on a player they see different things to someone looking objectively. It's not necessarily their fault but you look at everything differently when you're trying to paint a picture that suits a particular point. By Garretts own admission about Robertson the player is already coming from a negative position at Liverpool because he didn't think signing someone from a lower team who had conceded as many goals, that means that Robertson needs to be tearing up trees just to break even at the club, same went for Klavan with another poster (can't remember who it was) but they would get great delight out of appearing every time he had a poor game. I'm sure I do it myself, honestly I've got a soft spot for Moreno so I'm probably a bit fairer on him than most would be considering his time with us but I don't tend to get too pissed off with players as there's little point even if they look like they might be a hopeless case.
I thought Moreno was very good today, not his most exciting attacking performance but quite disciplined in defence and didn't have any big mistakes, always gives an option for the player on the ball. He's got a huge amount of bottle this kid, never shies away from anything which I respect massively in any player, both in terms of physically putting himself in where it's going to hurt and never hides from the ball either.
Not a kid any more. With better decision making and some added maturity to his game. He will surprise many supporters this season. Good that he has some competition now for the jersey. I was very happy that he was not sold this summer although I did suggest a loan move.
I recall you mentioning it quite a few times that you fully expected him to still be here this season and I'm glad that he is right now. I try and not let the past hang over a player too much and will do the same with Moreno and he's been a very good player so far this season and with his pace he has the potential to be a very potent attacking weapon.
I pray that you prove right on this one Lionel, as it's very clear that he's our No.1 LB for the season whether I like it or not.
Much more balanced performance and much improved , took some kicks again but seems to just bounce back from them unhurt .Quite happy with our options at Lb , Robertson also looks like a very good signing .
Even though he played well yesterday there's still things he does like trying to dive in too early that show his lack of defensive guile. Hopefully he improves greatly but I'd be shocked if he's our long term 1st choice left back
No its a ridiculous shout mate, but to be fair, twixfix started it. He played well, nothing too special but deserves credit for it.
Possibly the best left back performance since Carlos and Maldini retired. Getting back to the real world here and I don't find it surprising that some people think he was rubbish yesterday, when you don't like a player you watch everything differently. Games like yesterday suit Moreno well, he's a real fighter, never lies down or shirks from a battle, that personality can often get him in trouble be he harnessed it very well yesterday.
Watched him closely and thought his positioning was spot on. A couple of no nonsense clearances too. Played well
Started what? I genuinely thought he was shit. The entire back four were shit. Gomes easily the worst of them. I see alot of people giving him praise for being well positioned.in my opinion people's expectation are so low that when he doesn't cost us a goal he gets credit. At least twice in the last 20 mins he goes in to win balls he can't win gets turned and defence are scrambling. Gomes done the same thing.
