You'd think Everton would have found it hard to be less likeable but Lampard as manager is a surefire way to get there!
Why do you think that? He had a 50%+ win rate with Chelsea and anything near that will be more than enough for them Btw I’m not in the fat frank fan club by any means
He also had a considerably better squad at Chelsea that ended up European champs. No way you can use his win percentage for Chelsea as a comparison on how he will do at Everton
Really hope Lampard gets it. A very unlikeable Tory. His mouthing at Klopp, there was that feud with Derby. He seems easily rattled Didnt mind Ronnie the Red, Carlo and obviously love Rafa, good to have a spanner in charge of them
He's just arrogant as fcuk, simple as that. He has got the job just because the fans are totally against the other candidate.
No surprise really. Shame he didn’t get to the end of the season keeping them up and then walking away but he didn’t seem to want to change his tactics over the past couple of games to halt the decline. Not to mention the injuries they had .
I know the Leeds fans absolutely adored him - and maybe thats just it, you had to be a Leeds fan, but I could never get my head around the level of esteem he was held in. Over 3 years and still using an interpreter (and its an open secret he can speak English) and I cant remember the last time I saw a manager so entrenched in a system that clearly doesnt and cant work. If any other manager in the PL tried to play that way and there was clearly no way the tactics were going to change, they'd have been gone in Dec to use the Transfer market (which Leeds didnt even though they were decimated by long term injuries) His gung ho tactics, man marking, reminded me of Klopps heavy metal football - fantastic to watch but only a matter of time before it was found out. Particularly the man marking bit - that may work in the championship, but trying to man mark the likes of Us, City, Chelsea, hell most of the premiership teams will tie you in a knot. The amount of times you see a Leeds defender halfway into the opposition half as he follows his man is just plain silly. He seems to be revered because he took them from mid table championship to the PL in his tenure, and I think the board finally copped that GETTING to the PL isnt the aim, its STAYING in it and they hadnt a prayer if Bielsa was left in charge (they still mightnt)
Missing Philips and Bamford for most of the season one of the main reasons for this years form. The stats with and without Philips are mad.
Stephen Warnock made the point on MotD that its a business and he couldn't understand why fans would accept relegation under Bielsa. He must not have seen Leeds play very often, if I supported Everton or Burnley and season after season melted into one big Meh then I'd gladly sign up to watch that football every week. Injuries have done for them, not the style of football, if they played Allerdyce football they would get less points than Norwich.
Is there not an arguement to be made though Bobby that Phillips and Bamford made their style possible by their presence? Phillips allows a lot of freedom to the like of Raphinia by doing a lot of the donkey work in midfield and Bamford could play on his own up front. When Leeds lost both of them, they tried (and continue to try) to play the same style, and it just hasnt worked but Bielsa persisted in the same vein when he hadnt got anyone near to the quality of the two I mentioned to carry that gameplan on, and he refused to try anything else. Bielsa and the Leeds fans can stand tall and tell us that they are a joy to watch, and they ARE. I love to watch them, because the scoreline could literally be anything. But the board will be looking at the balance sheet and the likelyhood of there being 100m less in the coffers next season if they didnt act, because Bielsa certainly wasnt going to do anything different. You cant concede a record number of goals for a calendar month and just carry on playing the same way.
We barely changed when he had Phillips and Williams, we could have dropped everyone back 20 yards to protect them but chose not to. Bielsa was the same, they don't have the players to grind out 1 nils, of they stuck with him and backed him they could have qualified for Europe, now they're on the Moyes, Allerdyce Bruce merry go round.
