It's a shit rule because the defender only diverts the ball towards his own goal because Salah is there. And its not like he can leave it because he can't possibly know for sure if he's onside or not, but it's still the correct decision to allow that goal. We were brilliant. Ranieri couldn't have had a worse team to start against. I think he hung his players out to dry though. Up against one of the best teams in the world,outstanding with the ball/finding space between the lines and he's asking his players to interchange between a back 3 and a back 5,and after what,a week and half's training? Understandably the defenders didn't know where they should be positionally,which meant they overcompensated,dropped too deep and left the midfielders with an impossible job to get anywhere near us.The shouts coming from Jenas of them not caring/trying was unfair. I don't care how much a team cares,those tactics against a side that much better than you and you're chasing shadows,and mediocre players expending so much time and effort chasing the ball aren't going to be worth a shite the odd time they get hold of it. But again,we were brilliant.
Completely forgot this game was on today, lost track of it all completely so it was a nice surprise to come on here earlier and remember the game and get the score update on the thread. Watford tactics played right into LFC hands. Jenas can be annoying however he was right about Watford players just letting Firmino or Salah, take the ball in, not one clumsy challenge to try and unsettle. Salah goal was incredible but it’s getting to stage where it’s becoming the norm. Massive game next week. Really hope United win the CL during the week as will take the pressure of Ole. If they get beat, all the talk will be of him getting the boot and it could rally their players and crowd.
Do you remember Neville and Carragher done a piece on them and compared them previous partnerships/trios? What they failed to mention is continuing with the same three for so long has never been tried before, there is nothing to compare it against. Freshening up or strengthening from a position of strength was always considered necessary from Shanks through to Ferguson but again there was nothing to compare it against. Maybe in 20 years no one will be breaking up successful forward lines.
