So is this constant need for people to be either totally writing someone off or else shitting the bed if they mention something, there's room for plenty of scope in between. There's more grey scale than black and white in everything and context is key, I've already said that Utd are third in terms of quality from us and City but that doesn't alone rule them out of being title contenders, the unquantifiables are going their way right now and you'd imagine they'll balance themselves out eventually (injuries, lucky penalties etc) but again that might not prove to be the case.
This might be too black and white although I get what your saying but you don't get to win or contest a title with those unquantifiables or more importantly those performances. Contrast their average performance over 15 games to our ours and we're streets ahead and thats with our hands tied. I reckon top 6 will thin out over the next 2 months and we'll have a clearer picture then covid permitting. If utd end up in it for the long haul then fair play to them. They certainly spent enough to be but I just can't see it based on their performances alone.
With the league this tight it’ll be an interesting transfer window. Every team up there at the moment need players in different positions. Could be a case of go big or go home. Whoever buys best could put in a serious challenge.
For me i still feel the PL is between us and city, the rest of the pretenders are battling for 3rd & 4th position of which I think spurs and utd will get them. Spurs are too inconsistent, Chelsea the same, Leicester i don't feel have the staying power for a title push, utd are out on their ass's trying to stay the pace with us who are off form atm. Aswell look who we have lost this yr to injury take even 2 of those injuries out of an apposing team they struggle yet we're still top. We're still winning not by big margin maybe 6-8 points.
I am no conspiracy theorist but the amount of penalties United are getting is so far of the average of other teams, something is contributing to it. Their players definitely take the ball in such a way that they are looking for any contact. The clipping of their own heels into opposing players is a common. Matty James was it last season but wasn’t very good at it. Rashford, Fernandes and Pogba have perfected it. Mane goes down like he is shot against Newcastle and VAR at least look at it. Was impressed with Villa, they probably deserved. Their right back cash was putting some crosses right on the money at times!!!
Well it's more exciting than last year, we were so far ahead the tension of winning it wasn't there. It's going to be a bumpy and exciting ride. I'm ruling nobody out in this strange season. we need to get someone in to make me more confident.so try and enjoy it, what will be will be.
You've had a transformative few days, from wanting to be 10 points clear and thinking the players weren't bothered to a complete acceptance of a tumultuous season and a what will be will be attitude, new year new me!
So your going to stalk me now. I never said I wanted to be 10 points clear, I said not being was frustrating. Comments straight after a game can be well not thought out, and in hindsight I was wrong. I'm sorry if my posts are not for your liking.
I genuinely meant no offence, it was intended to be tongue in cheek. I've a habit of dropping reactionary posts straight after a game myself, I only just noticed one in the other matches thread this morning after the Utd game, I'd a bottle of wine on board at the time.
There's some amount of Top Reds on Twitter Shiteing their bags about United. I hope Jurgen and the team are a bit more calm then them to be honest.
Liverpool fans appear to be only able to exist in one of two states according to this website 1. Liverpool will win the league 2. I'm shitting my pants/bed
I suppose you can't help how you feel. And the last few seasons have given us a different perspective of what title races were like. Its not easy to adjust to dropping points to shit teams not being the disaster it has been. Plus there's the calendar this season. Normally by now we're 20/21 games in,we're still only 16. And results wise Man U are in a very good run. I think both sides have been at fault here, and I'm including myself in that. My side gets peeved at the perception some give Man U too much credit, and the other side gets peeved at their perception we're not giving them enough credit. Both sides run to their keyboard every time they see something they think enhances their argument, and both throw little passive aggressive digs at the other. I think we should all continue doing exactly what we're doing. It's more interesting that way
I genuinely don't mind if liverpool don't win the league this season, I'll obviously be delighted if they do but after winning it last season and the joy that brought I'm good for now. Maybe it's because the games are so strange with no crowds, I just can't get too emotionally involved in it this season. The only time I really had a gerrin moment this season was when Bobby scored against spurs.
Roy Keane would have no tíme for you lad Seriously though after Utd dominating for so long and the misery we went through I'm going to be well pissed off if we don't follow through and win again this year. We're as strong as we've ever been in the PL and need to take full advantage of our superiority as long as we can. Things change in football very quickly.
