Hertha beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-1 on Friday with Grujic controlling the midfield. His performances was supposedly very good. Ben Woodburn to miss the next 12 weeks after picking up a foot injury .
I watched that game friday night, he played really well, stand out performer. Haven't seen him play now in a bit but he's really improved, passing watch top notch good running with the ball too
He has started 11 of their 14 games this season. He (surprisingly) didn't feature in the first game of the season, but came on in the other two games. I expect he'll start again during the week - he proved yesterday that he should.
To be honest I'm not that worried because I dont believe he was sent on loan for any other reason than to increase his value and the superficial nature that exists in so much of football probably means the sporadic headlines he's creating for himself are worth more than solid performances week in,week out. It's a part of football I've always found I interesting. I knew an ex player that became a physio at a championship club and he'd tell young players who broke into the first team that they could be as little as 20 games away from making a million quid(this was 20 years ago). He was a big believer in that making moments that stuck in peoples heads could in a lot of cases do more for a young players career than consistency. His logic was that in general theres not much between most players at a particular level when it comes to talent and the difference between having a career and not often came down to do something that would get people to stand up and take notice at the right place and the right time. Even players who weren't going to score goals he'd advise them to learn a trick and get it down to a tee or perfect another part of their game like a long throw or something, anything that could make them stand out, even if in the grand scheme of things it didnt really have much impact on a game. He'd been a journeyman striker who'd realised that was exactly his level so concentrated just as much on style as he did substance(long rockstar type hair, arrogant celebrations) and got a move to Sporting Lisbon. And I have to say,I've seen his theory proved plenty of times since. The fact is theres a lot of knee jerk decisions made in football and when it comes to subjective decisions, planting something in a decision makers brain can give you an edge even if it's nothing that gives you a tangible edge in footballing terms. Managers use that principle now to their advantage more than anybody by making sure they have friends in the media and keeping their face visible when they're looking for another job. Purslow admitted the positive press Hodgson got was a big factor in getting the Liverpool job even though it was clear at the time he didn't warrant it. Goes against them too. A decision to sack a manager shouldn't rationally involve what any other club are doing(unless the manager involved is part of your plan)but look how often one manager getting sacked leads to a load of sackings. "They sacked their manager so we should sack ours" is a silly place to end up in but it happens time and time again.
Still wondering will Klopp give him a season with us , personally think he will be sold with bids over £15/20m
I’d be adding at least 10 mil to that figure. I would still love Klopp to work his magic and turn him into a left back. Not going to happen but that wand of a left foot would be lethal out there and would give us an extra dimension in free kicks
22 year old midfielder that will score double figures in his first premier league season. If he were to come available i would expect 90% of the league to want him.
Harry Wilson is playing himself into the Liverpool squad next year. Milner, Lallana and Shaqiri will all likely be gone next season so we'll need someone to take their place. Wilson fits the bill and ticks all the boxes.
We'll wait and see mate but to me it's been obvious for a long time that Klopp doesn't fancy him and I'm pretty sure that theres boxes he's not ticking for him because talent wise he's better than the likes of Woodburn who has been given more genuine chances. I'd be happy to see him as part of the squad next season but if he's not up for sale in the summer I'll be extremely surprised.
We haven't seen much of Shaqiri in a year, fair enough. But Lallana was the first sub the other day. Milner starts in big games fairly frequently. I'd be amazed if all 3 leave together. We'd be expecting to sign another type of Fabinho with big money if so.
He is not that different of player to Shaqiri. Good at set pieces, can pop up with crucial goals but you a right, he doesn’t seem to be the type of player Klopp would trust to do a job week in week out. if he managed to get 16-20 goals this season though, he have to consider him for next season. A potential 50 million player you would not have to buy, although in theory you could sell him for that and then buy someone who suits the system a bit more for similar money.
We have the pot We have the potential of Jones and Grujic to replace Lalanna and even Milner if Leeds get him as squad players. We aren't that light in midfield and Fabinho is a special case so replacing him or having a like for like stand in is next to impossible.
Grujic Seems to be doing well at Hertha, scored again yesterday night plus and assist but Hertha third from bottom 3 goals and 1 assist from midfield
