Mario Balotelli. The Ghanaian Italian has taken 30 penalties in his career, scoring an astonishing 28 of them. With a brilliant conversion rate – although he hasn't taken as many penalties as the other names on this list. And we let him go for FREE!
Just on Milner I can remember him missing just once and expect him to score every time. I wonder if he's similar to Gerrard in that the numbers from the early part of his career done all the damage? Gerrard in the last 5 years of his career would have had percentages similar to Le Tissier and often in much higher pressure situations.
Milner has missed 2 from 18 in the last 10 years. Gerrard missed more often than I remembered, he missed one just about every season for 2009 onwards. Edit: ignore those because Gerrards are definitely wrong, he didn't take the pen in Istanbul because he had missed a couple in the lead up, I was a spurs game where he missed and they are included in his numbers from the site I was on.
Milner is an elite level penalty taker no doubt Bob,I'm always confident he'll score. I was referring more to the percentages I'd expect from a penalty taker rather than the player. I don't know if its just me,but I never feel particularly confident when its Salah stepping up. I don't even know what his record is and it might be purely my issue,I just don't like his technique.
Me too, it’s all that voicing around, the angle he comes at the bell and then he just seems to blast it somewhere in the middle third of the goal
I'm in that video behind Rushie when he gets presented with that award from my uncle Fair play for digging that out!
That’s great though RTE to be fair! I was at the game myself and still have the match programme. 3-0 win and Molby played though not sure if it was his first game.
Me too! My post should've been bouncing around not voicing but anyway that was a cracker penalty today!
https://m.independent.ie/sport/socc...s-who-abuse-him-on-social-media-38461274.html He is wrong if he thinks only a minority of fans are unhappy with him being a club ambassador. I wouldn’t have him near the place myself.
Michael Owen and his career choices have never bothered me in the slightest. Only looked out for himself and name any person who wouldn't have.
I can understand why some are pissed off with him for signing for ManU because football fans are like that but they were easily the best option available to him at the time and how realistic is it that he should choose a far inferior option so as to not upset a group of fans who were taunting him long before he ever went there?
To be fair Sib there are a load of former players who have made it quite clear that they would never play for United. It mightn't bother you at all and that is fine but don't lump everyone else in with him as if they would all do the same. Or to put it another way, who else did it in the last 60 years? There are a lot who feel a lot stronger about him that I do but he had more than one chance to re-join Liverpool but he didn't. Liverpool were playing chicken with Real over the fee but he blinked first and jumped ship to preserve his international career. To join United, crow about how much he loved it there and not think it should matter to any Liverpool supporter is as much if not more blinkered than any angry Liverpool fan. Personally I rarely get worked up about bearing grudges against ex-players but it absolutely sickens me that he is a club ambassador. There are some lines you don't cross.
He never moved directly to United. As Mick said he hadn't a host of clubs at his door when United made him an offer most if not all at the stage of his career would turn down. The move was a no brainer in fairness. He didn't have the nerve to hold out for us at the time Newcastle were in for him and that's the only time I would have questioned a move he made. He always did or seemed to put his England career ahead of club and he mentioned that was part of the reason he chose Newcastle.
''Hi Al, it's Micheal here. My book is now on sale so need to construct a twitter spat to raise interest. Cut you in? Thanks Alan'' A cynical b@stard I am.
