Substituted after 41 mins- not injured, pre planned as far as Twitter people say.

Let's hope it's just down to lack of match fitness

Looks like he was holding his hammy and signalled to be subbed off

41 minutes sounds like something definitely did not go to plan.

    Just read this...
Kirkland told LFCTV: "It was about being back on the pitch and getting some distance in his legs and he did that.

"He was neat and tidy and made some lovely passes. His first touch was good. He got a good 40 minutes under his belt and that will do him good.

Not really. You don't rush these things as his muscles need to be built back up. No point on putting too much pressure on too early.

I'd have expected with tiredness you'd just go to 45 but maybe you take mo risks on the back of such a long absence and get off if you feel anything off at all.

I'd say holding the hammer might just be down to tiredness/ muscle reaction.
Great to see him back in the Jersey again

I'm far from an elite athlete but what I do share in common with Alex is a delightful and unending mix of injuries from anything that I try my hand at, twisting my ankle quite badly playing golf was a career low for me in this regard. What I have found with all of my injuries was that injuring a right leg would typically lead to me injuring my left hip/leg/lower back within a very short timeframe as my body compensated for this whilst trying to protect the injured area. I'd say Alex's body will have a fair bit of readjustment to go through to try and get back to full speed again, probably looking at a very light workload this side of next season in all reality.

James Pearce says the club is reiterating that withdrawing Ox early yesterday was purely precautionary to prevent a setback and they will be arranging friendlies in the coming weeks to get him up to speed.

Unfortunately it turned out he had a muscle injury during the 40 mins appearance. But Klopp says it's not too serious, and expects him back in training in a week.

Proper footballer this fella, keep him fit and he'll make a big contribution to our season.

Major contrast from midweek and yesterday been back in the middle. Thought he was exceptional.
