All in all, I think this is a good deal for everyone, Would love to have seen him get some game time this season but think he's not at that level just yet to push the forwards we have (Apart from Origi on the wing). A year in the premier league will hopefully get him to the next level and save us $30m next season instead of going into the market. I guess time will tell..
If he starts for Bournemouth and shows his quality it's a win win for us. We either get a very talented player back in our team who'll have matured with a season at top level under his belt or we get fair bit more than the rumoured £25 mill fee mentioned this summer next summer. Look forward to watching him this year and hope he grabs the opportunity with both hands.
Haven’t been in here since the season ended, have to say I enjoyed that off season and the break from football but am ready to go again now. Perhaps it might have been different had we not won the CL but I am a lot more relaxed now about the season ahead because of that. In terms of transfers, it appears that Klopp puts great store in player loyalty and has kept the faith with those who done the business for him last season. I don’t think there is much that can de done in improving the first XI without breaking the bank but I did think that a top class midfield general might have been on the radar together with a top class forward. It was clear that once we never pursued the De Ligt transfer and from Klopps public statements, that any other signing we made was going to be as a squad filler rather than a first XI regular. I’m ok with that since I don’t think Klopp is being denied transfer funds to spend but rather that he simply doesn’t see anything of worth that can improve us without upsetting the equilibrium of the squad.
He’s untested at premier league level . Hopefully he does well. Him or Brewster couldn’t make the bench for Sunday even with mane and Milner unavailable. Shows how our squad depth is improving.
Still think its a bit odd getting rid of both Kent and wilson and not bringing in a attacking replacement.
Ditto...clubs cannot rest on their laurels & must improve the squad year on year..Sturridge gone, coco never replaced etc...much & all as I love the few things origi did for us, he doesn't cut it for me...he got his 'token' new contract but we need better backup than him if any of our front 3 get injured.. I cant understand why were not sniffing after dybala would be sickened if he ends up at spurs whilst were crying out for a creative midfielder, hendo, fabinho, Milner all the same type of players, we need a spark for the tight games...why we were going for fekir, pulled out & still didnt get a similar player since is baffling for me..& don't mention llana, he's a sick note, as is Chamberlain...these guys always have an injury just around the corner..
You keep saying you can't understand why we're not in for players that have high transfer fees and mammoth wages mate, (De Ligt,Dybala etc.) but that on it's own is why we wouldn't be in for them. We ain't giving an unproven teenage CB 250-300k and we wouldn't be shelling out similar to Dybala,60m transfer fee and another 15m for his image rights when he wouldnt get into our front 3 and he'd hinder the progress of Keita(anybody remember him? 50 odd million pound creative midfielder who had an outstanding reputation this time last summer). I think we'd all like another forward but anybody expecting a 50m+ substitute was always going to be disappointed.
I think that the "lack" of signings might be a consoling arm around the shoulder/kick up the arse for Keita and, to a far lesser extent, Ox. Both have shown glimpses of what they can do but both have had injuries interrupt their progress. I really hope to see the real Keita this season as I still believe that he is going to be a really dynamic player for us. I do, however, worry, that injury does hit us hard and leaves us with limited options but it can do with all teams. I agree with Babbs though that we will simply not shell out for a very expensive sub. Klopp is investing in younger players with potential as well as giving our own younger players a chance. I'd have liked to see a decent reserve striker signed but who do you get that is better than Origi that will sit on the bench? Origi seems to be becoming our new David Fairclough! I'd love to see a move for Werner as I think that he provides a different option up front and allows someone like Bobby to move back into a No 10 role. He is a very mobile but powerful "No 9" but, again, if a move to Munich doesnt happen, would he move to Liverpool to sit on the bench? Also, Klopp mightn't be interested! I think we are done for this window!
Obviously as fans we'd all rather all the gaps we think we see filled and as much quality as possible in the squad but I think you make a good point there. Theres plenty of players in every squad who dont want to see new arrivals in their position and often less pressure has a more positive impact than more competition.
JamesPearceLFC Some speculation today about Shaqiri’s future but been told there’s zero chance of #LFC offloading him.
Sadio Beranhio has left Stoke after 2.5 years, not sure he scored a goal. About 3 years ago I was adamant we should sign him. Just goes to show that even the best can go astray with bad coaching.
Ovie Ejaria has today completed a season-long loan switch to Championship side Reading with an agreement for the move to become permanent next summer.
Do you know who's decision it will be whether it becomes permanent or not? Is it down to Reading if they want him? I'm often a bit bemused by the idea of a loan with a view to a permanent arrangement.
It's already agreed that the move will become permanent next summer, like the deal we done with Southampton for Ings.
