Understandably a bit dead around here so thought I'd throw up an idea that I saw elsewhere online that might generate a bit of discussion. Rules are, your best LFC 11 but you're only allowed to use each nationality once. You also have to have been old enough to watch any player you include in the 11. For instance I'm 38 and couldn't claim to have watched Graeme Souness play for Liverpool. Anyway, give it a bash.
I'm 30, so I've got limited options. First stab at it is. Allison Finnan, Hyypia, Van Dijk, Robertson Mascherano, Gerrard, Alonso Salah, Divock, Mane
Alisson Babbel Hyypia Van Djik Robertson Salah Alonso Mascherano Barnes Suarez Rush I'm 38 so didn't see Rush at his absolute peak and probably only had a year of top class Barnes. If it's based on how good they were when I seen them then Gerrard for Barnes and Mane in for Rush and switch to 433.
Nice one Babbs Alisson Finnan VVD Sami Riise Gerrard Hamman salah Suarez Torres Mane cheated a bit with Salah mid!!
Alisson,Gerrard,Van Dijk and Suarez nailed on and worked from there. Alisson Finnan Van Dijk Hyypia Robertson Mane Mascherano Gerrard Salah Suarez Torres Would really like to have McManaman in but it's his own fault for being the same nationality as Gerrard. Toss up between Finnan and Babel.
No mate, John Barnes is. Met him recently which probably swayed it. Bet Stevie wished he didn't fuck off to some 6 star hotel in Ibiza now, he could be in my team. Anyway you have Riise ahead of Robertson, that's more controversial.
Alisson Finnan Hyppia Van Dijk Robbo Gerrard Alonso Mascherano Mane Salah Suarez I'd probably choose Torres ahead of Alonso by best Spanish player to play for Liverpool, but a team of 4-2-4 mightn't work
When I was running through my countries and I got to Belgium before Uruguay ,Origi was in by default then due to his derby goal, his Newcastle goal, his Barca goals and his final goal. (He might be worth his place in the team on that alone) No grudge at all, just forgot about him, unlike Origi who will never be forgotten.
Grobbelaar Nicol, VVD, Hyppia, Staunton Alonso, Barnes, Fab, Mane, Rush, Suarez, Full backs was the toughest. Leaving out Robbo and Rob Jones is criminal.
Steve Nicol was a brilliant player but he hung around far longer than he should have and my main memories are of him being absolutely woeful. If it wasnt for a mixture of that and me being a bit young to remember his peak years well enough,he'd have easily have gotten into my team at right back.
.... ..........Alison Finnan..Van ..Hansen...Risse ....Masch ....Alonso....Barnes .....Suarez....Rush ....Keegan Oh didn’t read the nationality bit trying to edit
Shocked a few of these teams have no Gerrard Alison Finnan Vvd Hansen Riise Mascherano Gerrard Alonso Salah Suarez Rush Torres unlucky that we have other great striker options and Alonso. Barnes was my favourite player as a kid but Gerrard was even better Edited - can't believe I left Hansen out. Only saw him near the end of his career with us but what a player. Robbo out for Riise so
Alisson Babbel VVD Hyppia Robertson Masherano Alonso Gerrard Salah Suarez Mane I am 39 but basing on from when I remember watching week in week out. Barnes and Rush were past their best then so leaving them out. 88-90 Barnes would be in my team ahead of Stevie though. Had Marcus Babbel not picked up that terrible disease he would have been LFC RB for years. World class player
