We are at home with a chance to increase our lead to 7 again against a side who are 4 points off the drop with 6 wins out of 22 games. We have scored 50 to their 20 and conceded 10 to their 28. They did beat our closest rivals for the title at Citeh though so let's not get complacent. Play to our ability and we will have too much for them. The back line should be interesting, hopefully Matip is back and we can push Fabinho into midfield. Milner at RB. Going for a win. Citeh away the following day in an early kick off to a team who just lost their manager... fingers crossed.
Personally think it’s a tricky home game , they seem to be a better side away from home and just read we’ve only one win of the last 4 at home v Palace 2-1 ..
Any sort of a win will do me. 4-0 thumping or a scrappy, horrible, heart stopping 1-0 once we get the three points.
How did we manage to only win 1 of 4 at home?! I remember 13/14 very well (unfortunately), but that was away! A 10 day break after this, so another 3 points will give the squad confidence before a sunny weather training camp. I said it last week before we went away to Brighton to make up from losing to City, but with fans and the squad having nothing to think about, other than this over and over again, any victory or a 1-0 win will do!
Going to go to the wire this race. We could 7 clear and then be just 1 clear by the time we play again. Just need to keep winning
Heard they may be missing there and 1 & 2 choice keepers meaning a start of 39 year Speroni. For us I think the team picks itself Alisson Milner Matip VVD Robbo Hendo Fabinho Shaqiri Bobby Mane Salah
Alisson Milner Fabinho VVD Robertson Hendo Gini Shaqiri Firmino Mane Salah While Gini is a doubt, I still would put him in the first 11. Fabinho has played well enough to start at CB ahead of Matip. At home to a bottom half team we should, and will, play an attacking team.
I'd play our CB's at CB. Fabinho did well at Brighton, but let's be honest, they showed hardly any attacking ambition and his main contribution was in possession on the half way line. I'd also like to think we learned our lesson last week with playing a player who was struggling with an injury. If there's even a slight doubt on Wijnaldums fitness I'd leave him out and I'd honestly have thought about leaving him out even if he was fit,he's been a fixture in that midfield through a very busy period and a rest was probably on the cards anyway.
Won't be pretty as per usual with Palace. They will park the bus and try to hit us on the break. Zaha will be a big threat especially with us playing a midfielder as right full.
Palace are four points off the bottom three. I am sure they are fearing us as much as some of our own are fearing them.
They aren’t that good. Averaging 1 pt per game. If the relegation fodder weren’t so shit they would be in a spot of bother. If we win tomorrow we will have amassed the same points as we did when Leicester won the league.
Funny the difference a few days makes. Every wannabe journo and blogger on the interweb has us scrambling to find some "cheap but reliable" option to bring in to cover for the injury crisis. Now suddenly TAA and Gini might make the Palace game, Lallana and Matip are fit, Lovern will be back for the next game (greeted with mixed reactions no doubt) leaving Joe Gomez who by all accounts isnt far off either, and Alex Oxlade Chamerlain who is back in light work. While the 3 points are all important tomorrow and any win is a good win, I;d really love to see us go out and boss the game, and put Palace well and truely away. Regardless of recent past history the fact is 1-11 (or 1-18) we are a far superior team to Palace, and while every team should be respected, WE are the top team in the league playing a team well below us, and the last thing we need is to be sitting on 1-0 with 5 minutes to go regardless of the confidence our backline inspires these days.
