Didnt I read somewhere that the 3 main characters are actually played by themselves in the movie? Might explain the wooden acting skills having 3 actual marine types as your stars.. Think its based on a book (written by one of the main characters) - which is based on actual events. Eeep thats a lot of basing. Surprised to see Eastwood attached to a film that has been so roundly panned. Probably seemed a good idea at the time to add the realism of the real life heroes
I expect most people are giving it a miss with such bad reviews. You fuckin killed Clint Eastwoods career!
Annihilation is a bit weird and not a typical mainstream movie imo, but it's pretty decent all the same. I, Tonya was very good. I've no idea what bits of it are true and what's bullshit though. The Shape of Water was ok. Style over substance as it looks great but generally pretty dull characters and story.
12 Strong was ok. Expected better as it's based on a true story. Lady Bird was quite good. Nothing dramatic. A Taxi Driver wasn't bad. Maybe a bit long. Korean true story. You Were Never Really Here was good. Disturbing subject matter (paedophiles) always makes it less 'entertaining' though. The Commuter was typical Liam Neeson action thriller but even with all the make-up and hair dye, he looks too old for this sort of role. Perfect Strangers was very good. There's a Spanish and a Greek version but the Italian one was the highest rated so that's the one I went for.... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4901306/
Enjoyed 12 strong as it seemed to fly by however looking back, it could have been better. Read up on it afterwards and it looks like a large part of the story was left out, in particular those who calling out the coordinates for the strikes.
I just thought it didn't give us enough on the characters. There was Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon and maybe one other guy that we 'knew'. The other 9 guys were like extras and I couldn't tell most of them apart. Mad story though.
Got around to seeing this one recently.... Went for a little power nap in the middle of it, woke up and didn't feel like I'd missed anything. Midweek movie on the box when you've nothing better to do, but nothing more imho. A shame, as Eastwood's standards are usually very high.
Last Flag Flying has a good cast but found it quite slow. Funny in parts but Crayston and Carrell, I just think of Heisenberg and the annoying one in Anchorman.
I thought the 3rd Maze Runner movie was fairly crap. Disappointing as I enjoyed the first two. Cargo was good. Much better than the 6.4 on IMDB.
