A few of us heading over to this in October. Has anyone found any cheap flights or hotels? I've only had a quick look but doesn't seem to be many bargains available.
I'd imagine it will be Barcelona. Even if it's played in Andorra it's only a couple of hours drive from Barcelona so I'd say most people will base themselves there.
All of Andorras home games so far have taken place in Andorra la Vella but the stadium only has a capacity under 2000.I expect our game to be moved to the Mini Estadi in Barcelona which has a capacity of 16,000.
id say it will defo be moved to barcas training pitch, great game to go to,and if u havnt seen the nou camp yet
Where would you's be flying to? Barcalona yeah. I was over in Salou in the summer and seen alot of sign posts with Andorra on it so most be close unless there is 2.
Are ye sure about that lads? They've already played the Russians in Andorra in this campaign and have stated they want the Ireland game to be played there also. Have things changed since?
It's only my opinion.Andorra's main stadium only has a capacity of 1000 give or take.Going by previous games against teams with a large travelling support they have moved those games to Barcelona. Of course if Ireland are performing poorly and don't look like qualifying they may decide that playing in Andorra is for the best as they won't want to rent the stadium in Barcelona if it won't sell out.Either way flying into Barcelona wouldn't be a bad an option along with Nice and Toulouse.
Cheers zoggs. Agree with what your saying, I was just wondering if something official had been announced that I missed.
No.Nothing official yet.The FAI don't know either. It probably won't be decided until a few months before the game.I just hope we have a chance of qualifying by then.
The Football Association of Ireland today (July 6) confirmed that the Andorran Football Association has written to UEFA to request that the Euro 2012 qualification match on October 7, 2011 against the Republic of Ireland be played in Barcelona. The AFA made the request following discussions with the FAI to accommodate all Irish travelling supporters. The FAI will notify fans when UEFA make a decision. No surprise by that decision. It will be a decent away trip for anyone interested. The game is on the Friday.
