That's a good tip, but with that said, the trip out to the Statue is very nice and worth the money (if you haven't been before). I'd recommend doing the trade centre experience, one of the best experiences I've ever had was going to the top, very very pricey but worth it. While you're down that way you can go into the Oculus mall, the 9/11 museum and then there's a bar called O'Hara's on the corner that became the base for all the first responders, they've got a photo book detailing the events directly after and during the clean-up, staff are nice, food and drink is good and it's not too expensive for that area.
Agreed But if your coming here don’t expect to bring any money home, this is our 4th time in the last 20 years and my god is it more expensive here than ever and I come to the US a lot for work and have seen the increase of late rocket! it’s an amazing place a trip of a lifetime but again if you wanna get the full experience be prepared to bring a sack load of cash another type get the bus from Newark Airport or LYFT/UBER - don’t get a cab this will also save you a fortune and if doing broadway buy the tickets on the day from the booth in Times Square you’ll save 20/30% that said we are having a ball and would come back again it’s fantastic, very very expensive but an amazing family trip
A mini hollier maybe But just back from a great family weekend in Waterford for the winterval event they have. Town was buzzing and lots to do and see for kids etc. Really enjoyed it.
How did you get on here mate? Heading on a stags for 3 nights we are gonna go to a benfica game as well, any suggestions or tips for bars to watch Liverpool or anywhere with rte that might show the opening night of the league of Ireland?
It's a great spot pal with plenty that caters for all types of stags, couples or families. City centre is like a valley so there'll be plenty of steps to climb that literally have bars, cafes and restaurants all round. A quick Google should throw up about 3 irish bars at least and all with screens etc although not sure how authentic they are that they'd have RTE. Found "The Corner Irish Pub to have a decent atmosphere. Small enough but in a nice spot all the same. Got tickets for Benfica handy enough through their own ticket app. From the city centre the metro is your best form of travel. Quick jump off and onto connecting line brings you right to stadium and there's a decent fan zone from the metro station side with a good atmosphere. If you've a day where you need a break from the gargle I'd recommend a tram up to the castle. Great view from there over the city. In for a treat enjoy mate.
We were in Lisbon a few years back and found O'Gilins Irish bar - good food and live music - also not far from it was another Irish bar Hennessys. Don't know if either of them show football. Also took a boat trip around the harbour, which we enjoyed. There is also a recommended tram number to have a spin on and the funicular is worth a go. Enjoy.
Benfica game moved to the Monday I can't escape the TV ruining trips!! Were looking into going to see Casa Pia its their 1st season in the top flight
Thinking of booking Club Mac in Alcudia with the misses and 2 year old in June, anyone ever stay here whats it like?
Ah ye great spot kids loved it . All inclusive aswell and a little water park next to it included loads of little karaoke bars about if ye take a stroll we rented rigsaw out electric scooters for a few hours great craic
Thanks a million first time going to alcudia but obviously a no brainier that hotel is the most family friendly
We've been there a couple of times when the kids were younger. It's a grand spot with a nice beach. There's a big Carrefour as well for cheap wine! It's your typical resort catering for Irish/British but not as busy as others so it has a relaxed vibe. The kids loved it.
Rui Paraiso I think it’s called. Think it has a kids club so be handy for the racing last time I was there was 2001
You are the Los Picollos end Gary. Nice spot. 67 Bar & Grill is a Celtic Bar near there. I'd be very surprised if they don't have the racing on. They have a place in Matagorda too called The Auld Triangle (nice grub). They'll have all the footie on as well. In that area, Fufu's is a decent chinese restaurant and Marcos is a nice bar with music at night. Loads of bars towards the strip end also. Taxis cheap as well. About €4 into Old Town from where you are. Nice time to go away too!
Heading to Milan at the end of the month. Going to see Milan play Atlanta and heading down to Lake Como on the Saturday to see them play . Probably take in another game too. Any hints or tips about Milan. I’ve never been before . Going Friday morning to Monday lunch time .
