Huge amount of handling errors, poor play at the breakdown and very little in the way of inventive attacking play throughout the game. Another injury to a back row on top of all of that too so not a great day at the office but the hope that we're still keeping something in reserve is all that is keeping the spirits going for us at this stage.

Bonus point win but a below par performance on the whole. Have to shake things up as a BP win wont be so easy to come by against Samoa if at all. Scots Japan game will be very interesting.

Very interested to see if there's the same level of attacking quality from Japan, if they play like they did against us then it will be a very one sided game!

It could end up with 3 teams on 15 points if Scotland beat japan, if that were to happen would it be points difference?

Think bonus point wins and or losing bonus points make the chances of 3 teams finishing 15 slim. Main focus from an Ireland perspective is to focus on picking up 5 points v Samoa and all going well it's enough to insure a quarter final. As group leaders or runners up depends on other results. A BP win against Samoa and take it from there.

If two teams are tied it's the head to head result, if three teams are tied then you are correct it's points difference.

Watched the game back last night and added to the other games in that dome I wonder how much conditions had an affect on the performance. Schmidt mentioned afterwards all the games there have had over 30 handling errors in them including yesterday. Having said that I still think Ireland are miles off. I recorded Wales Australia at the weekend and watched it back Wednesday and Ireland are miles off the standard in that game, and more importantly the New Zealand South Africa game was a level above that one again. I hope they're keeping something back or suddenly click, but I'm probably dreaming.

Neil Francis thinks we should fly hope now because we have no chance in the last eight.

He used to do this show on Setanta with Mat Williams and himself whereby they'd ask each other a question and after the other one had answered it they'd answer it themselves. I watched it in pure fascination one night at home bizarre the whole thing was.

I can't say most people would automatically disagree with him on this current article but he's a muppet nonetheless.

Just seen highlights of the tackle again and I'm of the opinion that it was a completely legal tackle and actually merits an award of some sort considering the player in question.

In all seriousness though it was a horrific attempt at a tackle and blatant red card. Going in hard on the number 10 is always the game plan and I'm sure the guys eyes lit up when he saw Farrel coming down his channel but it was completely reckless and very dangerous.

I was at an event recently with the Irish rugby team (sound lads btw). There was a young lad there about 10 or 11, he asks Andy Farrell if he's Owen's dad, he of course says yes, kids asks do you like him, of course I do he's my son says Andy. Kid just says "wow", I didnt think anyone liked him.

I heard on the radio earlier that there is a chance Ireland, Japan & Scotland could end up on 15 points.
