There's a long way to go. City can beat anyone on their day. 18 games left is a lot of points to be caught, even if we have a 7 point headstart on City, there's a lot of work left. Hopefully we'll maintain 7 on Thursday, or move it to 10. Our lead being brought back to 4 would be a big blow for us imo. The bookies make us slight favourites, but they had City at that last week. Things can change quickly. 5 months left.
I genuinely don't care what the bookies think mate and I know there's a long way to go but Im convinced 90 points wins it and we need 2 points a game from here to hit that,an average we hit with a team not as good as this one for the 2 whole seasons previous to this one. We might not win it but it's a very rational line of thought to think we will and I'm not letting fear of missing out cloud my judgement. If I wasn't a Liverpool supporter I'd be saying I think they'll win it no matter what happens against City so why would I have a different opinion because I am?
I think we will win the league but I don't think 90 points will be enough if we lose on Thursday. City are well capable of stringing 12 or 13 wins together. They have all their tough games over with after this, the confidence they would get from it will kick start them again. In saying all that I think we will win well on Thursday.
They have arsenal and Chelsea back to back early Feb . On paper, after the city game, we have an easier run in the following five or six games.
Regarding your last point about neutrals saying we will probably win the league, they are saying that, and they are right too. I'd be saying it as a neutral as well. In my own head I am confident, but I'm not saying it to neutrals (mainly out of nerves and worry!) We are favourites now, and rightly so, and that's why I mentioned the bookies price. My analysis runs on probabilities and numbers, and I agree with the bookies that we have more than a 50% chance of winning the title now. But if we lose on Thursday, City will probably be the favourites. It would be a big swing, and things can change, as @bobby benitez said. But hopefully not! I completely agree with you, I am just giving the other (negative) side of the current situation about the possibilities. Our club, fans, players and neutrals want us to win, and we are capable.
I think we're at a point where its ours to loss not citys title anymore. Even if they beat us thurs nite we are still in the driving seat. But if we loss vvd for a prolonged period we are really goosed. Id say all the old school neutrals would love to see us winning while the younger generation would hate to see us win it. Lets enjoy the ride.
Glad City still have at least 2 games left in league cup to keep them occupied on as many fronts as possible. Avoid defeat against City Thursday and the only way I can see us not winning it from there is a bad injury to VVD.
I think some other thread mentions the last time any member could get an away European game was under Roy Hodgson. I hope we don't return to that level. Football wise, not ticket wise!
Spartak Moscow dropped to all members last season. Obviously you needed to provide proof of travel but just goes to show you can get on the European Away ladder.
