I have a feeling some of our winning totals in the 70s and 80s would have left us well short even with 3 points for a win if it's any consolation lads

 

I say it again and again but you can't do what we're doing without the midfield already performing to a high level,that area of the team doesn't get the credit they deserve. Keita and Fabinho might change that,not because our results will get better but because people are desperate for them to do well. I'm very encouraged by those 2 lads recent performances but we're already seeing how well they've played being exaggerated so hopefully we use the good will towards them in a positive way,rather than it causing too many to judge the players who've done most of the midfield heavy lifting on the way to the top of the league, over harshly.

 

I agree they dont get credit, mainly because we don't have a standout player yet...think of Kante or Fernandinio.

Hoping Kieta gets more game time...been very impressive last few games!

Does anyone know what the story is with the stadium tour on match days?

 

Point on Mignolet is a good one above. I can remember at least five saves/interventions at key points that Alisson has made at crucial times.

The mistake at Leicester which luckily did not cost points is only major one he has had.

I remember Mignolet saving against Stoke in 16/17 at a crucial time however apart from penos can barely remember him making a memorable save in years previous.

 

I could be wrong but were we the only team to be top at Christmas and not win the PL at one stage as well??

 

Not sure if the only team but unfortunately we had city and chelsea away in the next 2 games.

 

I don't think so mate.Off the top of my head I'd say Newcastle were top at Christmas the season they collapsed and Arsenal came late in 97/98.

 

I think I was mis-remembering the trivia point, it has happened a load of times but we are the only ones to do it three times in the PL era.

 

Its been a great December so far, 4 wins on the bounce, stoppage time winners, stoppage time saves, top of the league and through to last 16 in Europe.
What we have forgotten in all that is actually the most important thing for the club is that it has passed the 40 point mark in the league which now should see us safe from relegation for another year. Klopp deserves all the credit he gets.

 

Think we were twice

 

10 points better off this season for the same 18 fixtures compared to last season, big difference.
After 18 games last season we were on 34 points, this season we're on 48.
HUGE fortnight ahead.

 

The last 2 times we were top at Xmas it was by goal difference and by 1 point, this time it's 4 points which is a decent gap.

 

Just had a thought there, if we win all our remaining games we'll be champions

 

In our 18 games we have only played 8 home games, were as city have played 10.
