Balls. Will leave us short of that solidity and confidence at the back.

Liverpool can confirm Joe Gomez sustained a fracture to the lower left leg during the 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night.

The defender needed to be substituted after 23 minutes at Turf Moor following a challenge from which he was unable to continue.

Gomez’s injury was further assessed by the Reds’ medical team at Melwood on Thursday.

Initial indications suggest the 21-year-old is facing a spell of up to six weeks out of action, though it’s dependent on how his treatment and rehabilitation programmes progress.

With his injury history 6 weeks is not too bad, I feared a lot worse.

6 weeks of Lovren/Matip alongside big Virg. This could be a huge problem

A blow but we'll still have the best CB pairing in the league. I'd be more concerned about RB. TAA still needs protecting to a certain extent and his form will be up and down for a couple of years yet. Sharing that position with Gomez won't be an option for the next 2 months so either Clyne takes some of the workload or he plays more than I think Klopp would want him to. Dealing with injuries is part and parcel of title challenges though and I dont think it's the kind of blow its being portrayed as. It wont stop the meltdown if Lovren makes a mistake in a game hed probably have been playing in anyway, but nothing does so we just get on with it.

Defiantly a huge blow with all the games coming up.

I noticed Camacho was on bench last night. Is he ahead of Clyne for back up RB?

6 weeks is good news, I was very worried this was ligaments and we'd be without him for a season, a clean fracture or even break is far better than anything to do with ligaments. It's a position we can afford to lose a player in and if Clyne is fit we should get by without him.

Gomez will be back running after this in about 3 weeks all going well.

Disappointing because the time of year and how many games he'll miss but as others have said could be worse. Hope he comes back in the same form. Been immense this season so far.

Just feel so uncomfortable when he is on the ball.

Feel for Gomez. Really starting to fulfill his potential.

I didn't see the challenge myself, was it a bad one or did his momentum carry him into the hoarding?

Dyche for all purposes seems like a cunt of a manager so I won't be believing a word out of his mouth.

Fabinho might be the back up option if Clyne has gone of the radar? Milner could also do a job there if needed.

When is the last time he made a ball related mistake? His previous mistakes have mostly been errors of judgement in making or not making a challenge at all.

A blow, but one that could have been a lot worse. Playing against a bunch of thugs with a ref who wasn’t prepared to show a card as all the fouls built up.

Degsy obviously hasn’t covered himself in glory at times in the past but has a lot of heart (like a golden retriever), and Matip for me is more likely to make mistakes.

Will be a big boost for us when he gets back in January. Been amazing this year.

If he's back in action in six weeks, per Ed's post, then we'll be very lucky ... could have been worse.

He's important to us this season, and for me, I think I want him in the CB partnership with VD ahead of Lovern, based on what I've seen from him this season.

He has played less games than Lovren, but I can't recall Gomez making a single mistake so far. The duo of Gomez and Van Dijk is the best in the league I think.

His strength in the tackle is a big thing. Lovern can sometimes get dominated physically.
