Great to see a few clubs interested in taking Ings on loan, as there's no doubt he needs to play regularly now.... Assuming he was going to get regular football at all of them, I'd love to see him go to work under Rafa for a while, as I'm sure he'd learn a lot from him (albeit, a very different type of football from what Klopp plays - which could be a reason he might not be lent out to the barcodes I suppose). Going to Newcastle might also offer the best option of avoiding a relegation battle.
Feel like I've missed something with him, but obviously echo the second comment and he's a pleasent surprise!
I never saw him overtaking Sturridge as our second choice striker this season, given how little game time he's had, Sturridge's experience and some of the goals he's scored for us in times past etc. Personally, I don't think Ings is good enough for what we need, but would be delighted to see him prove me wrong. Hopefully he'll bang a few in for us now.
Goes on initial loan deal with view to permanent move next season. Good move for the lad as is a local also.
Must admit this deal is slightly confusing to me. Presumedly Southampton pick up full wages for Ings this season. Presume a fee is agreed for next summer at a price that would be comparable to what he was bought at. However does it give Southampton the option to sell on at a profit if Danny Ings has a great season and also does it give Ings the option to move on should Southampton be relegated. One thing about this deal is that he has not been sold to a rival club. Hopefully he can be injury free for the full season and be an excellent signing for 'the saints'. Some contrast in the pieces on the LFC website tonight about Danny compared to what was posted when Coutinho was sold last January,
Judging by our players comments he will be genuinely missed around the club. He seems to be a good lad, hope it works out for him and he can get a good run now without injury.
When you have a decent striker with terrible knees it's not very smart to add another decent striker with terrible knees.
Best of luck to him. I think he would have suited the Klopp style as a backup striker but the two serious injuries took him out of it for so long. Hope he stays injury free and gets some game time from here on.
Lionel , club have installed a 20% sell on clause. So any profit made by Southampton in the future we should profit from also.
I keep waiting to hear someones brought a case against Michael Edwards (dont ask me what the charge would be called - fair trades agreement maybe) He keeps turning over deals that amaze us. Danny Ings cost 6.5m plus performance bonus of 1.5m (which I doubt he reached) and then got 20m from Southampton for him. He (Edwards) seems to churn out massive profit after massive profit on players we clearly dont want anymore Surprised to read Ings is still only 26. Seems to have been around for yonks.
