Explains the "bad gateway" message I got earlier. Pity that, heard it was a good site to get the TV from the states on.
Torrentz.eu is mentioned in that article you posted Garrett, stick a "2" between the "Z" and the ".eu" to find they have reappeared.

I used Extratorrent for years. Sad to see it go.

Torrentfreak have a top10 of torrent sites (unfortunately needs to be updated to reflect the loss of extratorrent but otherwise seems reliable)

ET has been resurrected supposedly by some of the original group who ran it although without the main guy SAM who was the one who pulled the plug.
A few teething problems with not everything working 100% but it looks ok.
    KAT is also still going.
Both are found using the .cd domain

    Thanks mate,

I'm a bit sceptical about some of these sites when they are resurrected by others ... EZTV and Yiffy are two stories where people took over the urls, initially pretending to be the originals but were not and started sending all sorts of crap from adverts to wrong links etc.

I've been dabbling with 1337x of late, it's not bad and there a few of the regular uploaders on it... also been looking at torrentz2 but think 1337x may be presented a little better.

They are slightly different cases as they were encoders/uploaders so when they stopped, you knew you were getting a different product.
Some of the big encoding groups are still uploading to the new Extratorrent domain so it's still the same product as before. Just a change of management I think.

If that's the case, then sure that's a better scenario alright - are you referring to the likes of ETRG ?

I wonder what spooked Sam to close it down, did he/she get a tip off that someone was on to him/her perhaps ?

I stupidly let my iptorrents account lapse and I've now been pruned. Anyone got an invite they can share with me?

The worst thing is all those lost terabytes of upload credit that took years to build :(:(:(

Virgin blocked a few more sites over the last 2 weeks but they have relocated to different domain addresses.

Is it okay to post the addresses?

I wouldn’t post them. Paul might not want to bring unwanted attention to the site. I am sure if some one wants or needs them off you they will PM you.
