Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he is in the dark over Dejan Lovren injury

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that defender Dejan Lovren came off against Bournemouth today injured, but said he was unaware of the severity of the problem.

The defender was replaced by Ragnar Klavan seven minutes from time at Anfield, but the Reds boss said: “I didn’t see the knock. I would love if it would be because of a ‘knock’ rather than a strain or tear or whatever. I have no clue.

“He felt something but I didn’t speak to him afterwards, I only saw that he was limping.

We made a change because we could make that change – we had a centre-half on the bench. Hopefully it is not too serious, of course, but I cannot say more now.”

Liverpool have a shortage of central defenders with Joel Matip out for the remainder of the season and Joe Gomez also sidelined. 19-year-old Irishman Conor Masterson has been on the bench twice in recent weeks.

Would be a huge loss v Roma. Seems to get on well with van dijk and has been far more consistent than many including myself believed he was capable of !

It’s great news , if I was to pick a defender along side Van for Aerial attack’s that Dezko will bring , it would be Lovern than Matip .

That one moment just spun the game on it's head! It's such a bad ending to what had been a perfect night. We're in a match in Rome next week now where it had been a procession.

The chap can't handle a mistake, every time he makes one he falls to pieces. Big Virgil made one against City and brushed it off.

Probably no helping Dejan at this stage if he can't recover from an error.

They won't keep us out over there though so I think we will be ok. But if he has a meltdown against Real or Barca then it could cost us dearly

Ah to be fair it isn't his first time having a lapse in a basic scenario and costing us a goal. People will say we shouldn't take off Salah or we shouldn't bring on a 3rd centre back but neither goal was directly down to either of those scenarios and I see alot of that tonight on social media. Poor judgement on a basic cross and a bad peno call. I commented on who I thought was good too but can't ignore an area that is a weakness. We have to talk about the good and the bad don't we? Great result and I don't think it will be a huge influence on us going through but hate when we do well for the game defensively and something so easy undoes all the good work.

Jaysus harsh crowd, you can be brilliant against City and then make one mistake in a game when 5 nil up and you are the master of doom.
