Fabulous drive if stick to coast line from La to San Diego. Some great view points. Dana Point was incredible if you keep going up further than the actual viewing point. It's one image that I always remember. You would still do it in a few hours and I'd highly recommend Huntington beach if you can get down that way.
Cheers for the suggestions, we’re flying into LA then driving on to Las Vegas for a few days, gona head on towards Yosemite and San Fran then make our way down the coast back to LA, going for 18 day s so it’s a bit packed
You're going to be very tight on time in 18 days to fit all of that in but it should be just about manageble but while you're in Vegas make sure you do the grand canyon, it literally has to be seen to be believed. I also thought the Hoover Dam was very impressive. I did the reverse of your drive from LV to San Fran also including the stops in Yosemite so if you want any advice on that at all just let me know. We went in through death valley which was a pretty cool drive, in June it might be unbearably hot, we were there in September and it was very nice. Took a night somewhere near Big Pine just to break up the drive and stayed in Yosemite Valley for two nights. We did some small hikes but nothing too outrageous, think about 2 hours or something up to some waterfalls from the Valley. If you're looking for accommodation in the Valley I'd recommend getting it sorted as soon as possible, we stayed in these big cabins which are kind of like tents, they're everything you could need and they were a little cold when we were there but in June should be fine, all booked through the Parks association. The drive out to San Fran should be fine but try and avoid departing Yosemite on a Sunday if you can, all the city traffic will be making it's way back. As for accommodation in San Fran there's just no cheap way of doing it, it's a horribly expensive city and if the budget won't stretch even to a Motel or something similar in the city then maybe Berkely is the way to go, in June that might well be the only option. The BART system is quite good and in my few times in SF I've found it quite reliable. Probably looking at the guts of an hour in ever day. Make sure on the way back down to see the sights, do the Big Sur, stop off in Moneterey for a night if you have the time and go see Carmel (right beside Monterey). There's a drive out around Pebble Beach golf club that is incredible, it's $15 or something similar to do the drive but it's definitely worth it (as a golf fanatic I might have found this more enjoyable than your average punter). The Big Sur is a huge highlight too, take a full day to enjoy it, there's loads of stops along the way and a few small villages where you'll get something to eat. I didn't go much further south of the Big Sur as we weren't going to LA so I've no tips on anything further south but Santa Barbara is one that I always hear people raving about so must be worth a visit. All in all you've an incredible trip in store, I did mine about 2 years ago and still think about some of the places that we visited. Yosemite was my clear highlight with Grand Canyon too. Few of the sights in SF were awesome too like the Golden Gate and the night visit to Alcatraz. There's so much to do you really can't go wrong.
was away in UK for few days. Coming back through passport control is a joke. Nearly an hour between touching down and exiting the airport. Plus new scanning machinesw to check identity. There no even that stringent in the UK where terrorist activities occur.
On my old 1 theres nowhere to sign. Theres a page with "emergency contact details" alrite. On the new ones, theres both.
It's on the page opposite the one with your picture. That's where my signature is anyway. Don't think the emergency contact details are necessary.
Fly to Almeria the afternoon off the 2nd leg. Have 30 mins to find somewhere to watch it after we land.
Never been to Spain or nearby islands before, looking for some recommendations for a week's holiday for 4, will be traveling with 2 X 16 yr olds so looking for something that will cater for them moreso than me?
Been to Salou Menorca Marjorca and Tenerife Willie and all have your standard foreign week in the sun things to do. Prob thought of them 4 Salou was a bit of a kip. Very reasonable food and drink and almost guaranteed good weather in the summer months. Your mix of Irish and English holidaymakers. Was in lanzarote as a 16 year old for the world cup in 2006, one best holidays I've been on.
I loved Salou, great town and something for everyone. Nice and cheap and with good theme park if the kids would be into that, you can fly into the local airport or Barcelona with good bus services from Barca. We actually did a day trip on the a coach to the nou camp and then into Barca for the girls so all were happy.
Nice week in Almeria even if the weather was a bit shit on a few of the days. Was sick as a dog flying and heaped up on tablets. Took it handy and recharged the battery Got to the Hotel just at half time and watched the 2nd half with the Real Madrid supporting receptionist. He was jumping around as Roma were knocking out Barca and I was for us doing City. Very cheap ale and food and friendly locals. Prob went a few weeks to early as a lot of places still not open for the summer season but nice to have a break. Gotta love Tapas
Lads any recommendations for some where nice to go in October for say between 5-7 days. Some where warm but not too far. The little fella will be about 1 at that stage so don’t want to travel to far on a plane with him . Just a nice hotel, with some warm weather and decent weather . Never been away with a child before, so all suggestions would be greatly appreciated please.
