It's not new news. I actually thought last February and posted it here that it was only LFC matches in Europe that the rag had press access too. http://www.irishkop.com/forums/index.php?threads/dont-buy-the-sun.1148/page-86#post-1037498
Usually would tune into some of their videos espically after a defeat to listen to some of the muppets they have on for.a laugh. Heard about a video they did when the rag and di not go near any of they content post the Spurs game. Was shocked as after the Arsenal game at Anfield, their lads had Don't Buy The Sun stickers on etc I watch the Redmen TV occasionally and they seem a decent bunch of genuine supporters. The Arsenal lads have become celebrities and gone to their head a bit. Fair play to him for going on and giving the apology and if it makes Arsenal fans aware of the campaign and a few stop buying it, then all the better
Maybe someone with more knowledge of the subject could explain why football fans in general never got behind the campaign? It was Liverpool, it was nearly Spurs but realistically it could have been any of 6 or 7 clubs or cities smeared that day. The ease football fans just breeze over the fact a newspaper they contribute their hard earned money too tried to destroy a club, a city and hundreds of families is astounding. Its like a totally separate thing to them when it should disgust them regardless of tribal rivalries.
An argument I've seen put forward Bob is that plenty of newspapers have been involved in disgusting behaviour and still are and Liverpool fans aren't calling for a boycott on them. The Daily Mail being a perfect example of a newspaper that's probably as disgusting and I sometimes click on their links,I probably shouldn't but I'm sure me doing that is offensive to a hell of a lot of people whose misery has been caused or compounded by a hateful rag littered with scumbag writers.Id love it if nobody bought the S#n and i think its great when other clubs fans are on board with the boycott but at the same time it would probably be hypocritical of me to judge non Liverpool supporters for reading it.
There is a really good history show on The Right Hook on Newstalk. This weeks one focused on 'How Great Journalism Brought Justice with Hillsborough'. Well worth a listen here //www.newstalk.com/player/embed.php?mediaType=podcast&id=196976'></iframe> I know great journalism and the s*n shouldnt be on the same sentence but I thought it was probably best to put this link on this thread .
http://www.football365.com/news/revealed-the-premier-league-table-topped-by-man-united Bell end rag reporter slagged off, scroll down to bit about scum being top of the league.
Surely related to Howard Webb. Embarrassing stuff there alright, expect nothing less from that shower
#DontBuyTheSunUnlessYouAreWritingMediawatch At least that was simply an innocuous lapse of judgement, and in no way malicious. The Sun can have no such excuse. Here is their headline: ‘Emiliano Sala’s model ex-partner says ‘football mafia’ is behind crash’ Because fueling speculation by quoting the spurious claims of someone who will have been affected deeply by such a terrible event is helpful. But still, you got the word ‘model’ in the headline, along with six pictures of Berenice Schkair (there are three of Sala) – five of which are of her alone (in her underwear, because The Sun) and are taken directly from her Instagram. That is absolutely f***ing shameful. And that is absolutely f***ing predictable. What an utter shower of a website. Hang your heads in shame. - Taken from football365.com What a shower of absolute scum
See #dontbuythesun is trending again because they're being scum again. They're loving the fact that Ben Stokes had a family tragedy 31 years ago and have printed the story against the wishes of the family. The scum even sent a reporter to his Mum's house to doorstep her with questions about it. Why doesn't everyone else see what scum they are and stop buying that rag?
They play to the absolute lowest common denominator all of the time and that has a massive appeal with a lot of people. The media wouldn't continue to do things that the public had no interest in and unfortunately what seems to really interest people is gutter journalism but you only have to look at the TV shows that get the ratings to see that trend also. I don't know if the below is accurate but this is suggesting that this rag is actually the largest circulation in the UK, is that possible? https://www.statista.com/statistics/529060/uk-newspaper-market-by-circulation/
I still don't pick it up. But does that translate to circulation figures? Do they just count all the one they leave in?
Unfortunately this is true. Always see them in Manchester in particular. I "accidentally" spilled a full coffee on a stack of them a few years ago
