Klopp on Xmas Eve fixture Let me say this; if the supporters want to see a game on Christmas Eve, then the TV broadcaster will find a way. Now I know it is possible, and if something not too cool around fixtures can happen, then Liverpool is involved! I always said that the broadcaster has to consider that the wonderful thing they sell, depends on the players and the quality and freshness of them. If they have to play 24 Dec, then can we fight against it? Sky, if they really want to bring the players, the supporters, the people who work for television into work on this night. It’s no problem for the people to be concentrated on something else other than football on this important night. Maybe we could play without media? Just one camera! I really cannot imagine that anyone wants to watch football on that night, but I’m not so important!
I struggle to believe that there might be a 3pm fixture that day. Game/games will be early or not at all in my opinion. The one and only Christmas Eve fixture since the Premier League began was a midday fixture. Although that might have been to do with the clubs and different policing to now, as I think some of our games against United had 11:30am starts around that time. I'll be surprised if there is not a Christmas Eve fixture this year. I think last trains London to Liverpool are a lot earlier that what Ian posted in this thread.
This from the other side of the fence. Still no doubt in my mind there is going to be a Christmas Eve fixture this year and we all know which one Sky want to televise. Completely different sport but BT Sport have already moved the Rugby match between Leicester and Saracens to 3pm on Christmas Eve. I wonder were many complaints about that.
Some interesting detail with regard to the next Premier League contract. Could the PL be following the Football League and make all midweek ties available to watch? Because I can't see them allowing for multiple live TV slots at other times or TV companies allowed show games opposite one another.
Wenger's press conferenve would really make you think this is happening Possible delay with the fixtures could be the limited selection available for a Friday Night game. More games would be come available after the 4th round of the League Cup.
Premier league said they won't have 4pm kick off, knowing them they might do 3.30 or something strange like that.
Nothing is a cert until it is formally announced. I have always reckoned that there would be a televised match on both the 27th and 28th and that was without even considering a Christmas Eve fixture. Not a chance of that happening most probably 13:30
Telegraph had that story, seen it after I posted that I thought it might be a 13:30 kick off. I applaud the efforts of Spirit of Shankly on this issue. They did and said all the right things, unfortunately the powers of the broadcaster dictate policy, travelling fans really are an irrelevance to the television companies. Slightly off topic but I was reading recently that it is the policy of the football league to schedule matches with the longest trips for away supporters as midweek games as then there is a better chance of higher attendances at matches at the weekends with less travel involved.
