What a movie. Cant recommend it enough even if you didn't like Joy Division or the music of that era. The acting all round is incredible and theres not one performance that isn't spot on. The guy that plays Rob Gretton is the same actor that played Paddy Considine's brother in Dead Mans Shoes and he steals the show again.

Absolutely!!!!!!

Brilliant movie. Really captured the mood of the time. I liked that there was a good balance to it as well.

As far as I know Sam Riley sang the songs that were performed live, if that is true, then he really captures Curtis' voice.

The seminal sex pistols gig (where the buzzcocks and joy division were inspired, and wasnt mick (shit) Hucknall supposedly there too)was brilliantly depicted and the inspiration for shes lost control was heartbreakingly poignant.

I'm amazed he was on such a cocktail of anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, tiagabine, phenytoin and oxcarbazepine all together is a criminal combination). I presume that was poetic licence, but if not then it was a disgraceful regieme to have anyone on.

Being a fan of the music helps I suppose but certainly is not essential.

The fade out to athmosphere was great too.

A real 9/10 movie

I do like them but some of their stuff is too dark for me. I prefer the singles and the likes of Digital than say most of the stuff off Closer.
Them and the Doors are surely the pioneers of Gothic music??

Even though I knew what was going to happen at the end I couldn't believe how powerful the last 5 minutes were especially when "that song" started.

Sam Riley does sing the songs as hes credited on the soundtrack. He's also been shacked up with the bird that plays Aneeq since the films completion. Lucky git ')
