They (ex-Legends) like to believe that the team they played in was much superior to the current team. They're probably right, but there's no need to rub it in as much as they do. Whelan, Souness, Houghton & Lawrenson are renowned for it, although the first three have probably been infected by Giles and Dunphy. Can't beat guys like Hansen and Phil Neal for a balanced view.

It doesn't particularly annoy me that he is very dismissive of the current side rather that he talks nonsense, spouts clichés and offers no insight whatsoever.

Im too young to have ever seen him play and by all accounts he was a great player, Hamann with goals, but I really dislike him.

20 euro is a joke. Brannigans have new owners and obviously trying to milk a situation like this. The old owner had Aldo and Speedy in and didn't charge...I'm definitely not paying 20euro to see Ronnie Whelan!

It`s an open forum bud. You`ve every right to pull him on his remarks about the reds.Somehow i don`t think it`ll be a total ass kissing session a lot of reds are pretty pissed off with some of his opinions.

Good comparisson considering you never really see him play. I think he was probibly just a little better than Hamman with goals, Ronnie in his early days could play the wings too. Bob Paisley played him on the wing a few times.

I like Ronnie, any time Ive met him he has been a gent. I dont think he dislikes the current team, I think he just dislikes Rafa (infact I know he does, he said as much at the legends night with Thomo and Molby that time).

I hope his punditry opinion changes next season WHEN we pick up from where we left off this season.

I wouldn't mind him having his opinion too much if I felt it was his honest opinion. But he was very vocal about not wanting Benitez before he came and he seemed to have his mind made up about him beforehand and refuses to give him any credit ever since because he wasn't his choice. That to me is small-minded petty sh*te. I am open to being convinced otherwise on here but that is my impression of him. Great player though.

If you have ever see Jan Molby at a legends night I think its fair to say you would pay 20€ to see him on his own .... funny, funny man!

Ronnie was great player, however I just don't like him in the media. Its not just his pundit work on Liverpool, in general I just don't think he comes across well or ever has anything insightful to say. He would fit in well on ITV with Andy 'Tactics Truck' Townsend.
