No I have given up going to the games to be honest.
I have already shifted the Germany tickets.
I just dont get the same joy watching Ireland as I do from the Reds and its been that way for a long time.
I have no interest in going to shout for Robbie karaoke queen keane john o shea or Liam Miller and the likes.
I wont be blockbooking for the next championships either, rather save my cash for the reds.

i sort of agree...but I had many fantastic days in Landsdowne over the years and I still really want the boys in green to do well. We are on a bit of a downer now obviously but Im still looking forward to Germany match.

Funny I'm going to the crap game and not the good game

Saturday night in Croker playing Germany with great pubs around for before and after. Anybody in Dublin with access to a ticket would be mad not to go I reckon. 8 of the lads are going, one on my ticket, I'm sickened I'll miss it whatever the group situation is.

I'm actually looking forward to it now. Although we have nothing to play for but pride, there should be a good atmosphere down in Croker, what with it being under the floodlights and everyone having a few beers in them.

You should be going to support your country not certain players. People like yourself and the thousands who will not turn up for the Cyprus game do not deserve to get tickets. At least maybe a genuine supporter might get your block booking for the next qualifying games. All countries have their ups and downs, just look at Scotland. If your a supporter you support your team or country through thick and thin. What would happen if Liverpool had a couple of mediocre seasons, would you hand back your fan card?

Look man thats why I made my point of saying im not going any more, and giving up my block booking from here on in.
I will still want Ireland to do well, but I would rather put my time effort and money into supporting the reds.
Look Ive been through plenty of len years with the reds and still went and enjoyed myself watching players make an effort for the red jerseys, something you dont always see with the boys in green.
Anyone who sat through recent failures in qualifying campaigns in Switzerland and then in Landsdowne against the swiss will agree.
I cant get myself up for it anymore and so am choosing not to go and attend these games and let someone who is more passionate about it to do so.
Ill leave it to the numpties with their Stand up for the boys in green chants at the weekend alright?
Everyone lauds how most scouse Liverpool fans dont really follow England, so whats wrong if one or two of us do likewise.

always seems to be people from dublin usually raving on about if ye support ireland and have tickets, then you should attend all games..
Under the block booking, we have to buy the tickets or they throw you off it..ok living in dublin, on a wednesday, finish work at normal time, go for a few pints, go to the match, few more pints, home at a reasonable hour..leave kerry or donegal on a wed..half day at work, try and get parked, hope your car in one peice after game, stuck in traffic for yonks after game, home at an unearthly hour...whenever the dublin based clubs go to finn harps, lucky to have 1 coach load, the fans reckon its too far too travel, ruins the weekend:rolleyes:...

Hold on don't make it into a Dub vs Country thing. Thats caused enough hassle in the past and only recently are we seeing how players progressing from outside traditional areas can add to the national setup (heading for an all Irish born first team). Yes people outside of Dublin obviously have far more hassle in attending matches as do Irish getting to Anfield or I dunno Cork fans heading to Croker 4 matches in a row in the Summer. I have done both many times (excluding Cork matches !). Usually mid-week for Ireland matches.

If anything those from the country should be getting onto anyone Dublin based for not going, they have abs no excuse but most in the country wouldn't use travel as an excuse anyway especially for a weekend game. Some lads regularly fly home from London for matches !!! Jeez Sat eve match in Croker against Germany if you don't have a good reason for not going (to me my daughter is a pretty damn fine one) you may well hand back your block booking or position in the queue for one to someone who's arsed and does still see a point to it. A Scouse mate of mine working, living and engaged in Dublin goes to all the matches including friendlies. He'd put some Ireland supporters to shame.

I don't see the parallel with Irish not supporting Ireland and Scouse not supporting England. Its a completely different dynamic. I presume you're not from an area that doesn't see itself as Irish ??? Corkonians for instance though fiercely independent are great supporters of the national team and make some trek up for the matches.

Thing that struck me was how me Scouse mate, though his lot don't support England, was taken aback from the whole prevelance of support for the national team here from kids to grannys and particularly amongst women that had no interest in football otherwise. He found it amazingly unique not only being from a region that doesn't see itself as part of the national ethos but also that all those who did support the team weren't all complete twats.

I go to all Republic soccer games, only one missed this year was slovakia away..work weekends all the time which is a killer football wise..am going to the german and cyprus game(will bring back nightmares 5-2) and off to wales..the block booking though is a money racket and unfair..probably playing brazil next year(which every tom, dick and harry will want to go to) but nothing surer it will be a double package with a home game against bangladesh or similar(hard to face an 8 hour round trip for that sort of fixture in mid feb)......i hear some fans are not going to germany game because clashes with the rugby world cup, now them twats deserve to have their block booking taken away..

I'll be there with the usual crew that I've spent many a cold friendly game standing with getting pissed upon on the east or north terrace. We just appreciate the comfort and seeing a non-Friendly ! I suppose if you don't do the hard miles you don't appreciate it when its in your lap.

Here's hoping we have some joy in the block booking queue when new LR opens its doors. Judging by the amount of calls I got from people wanting to offload spares (knowing I'm usually the one looking for spares for myself and the lads) I can honestly say that we deserve some joy on that front and we'd use our own tickets for any match (last two I saw at LR was San Marino and that Holland thrashing) whenever real life circumstances don't dictate otherwise.

Indeed they do and most of the others not going to *either*. Certainly sounds like you deserve your place anyway. I wouldn't mind the block booking conditions personally as would be just glad to me in the click rather than only being able to go to the shite matches.

On the Brazil aspect I think to risk a friendly in Croker given the FAI could actually make a loss on it would have to be a massive team like Brazil, Argentina or England (not massive but would sell out for obvious reasons). Gettting two sell outs of Croker for the price of one at the kinda prices they're charging is a big liklihood alright as Brazil carry a big appearance fee too.

The Mexican wave is a pure sign that the crowd is disinterested in a game. I was getting more than a little annoyed at one stage when there was some decent build up play for us out on the pitch, and half of the Lower Cusack were looking away towards the German fans to time it right in joining in on the wave. A tad infuriating.

How long have you been on the waiting list mate? If you were on it by the end of 2004 I would be 99% certain you'll be put on the permanent block booking queue when they move back to LR. Only saying that cos at the end of 2004 there was only about 2k on the waiting list, and even if all of those were to apply, that would only be 8000 tickets, with plenty extra seats still left to be filled. It was only since 2005 and news that we would be playing in Croker did a huge demand come to be added to the waiting list. As far as I know they closed it off a year ago at 10k.

I applied to be on the list at the end of last year and seemed to get on straight away. Ended up getting tickets for the four the home games in Croker, super tickets as well, smack bang in the middle of the Lower Hogan about 5 rows in front of Bertie. Presume I'll still be entitled to tickets when Landsdown re-opens, the capacity obviously won't be as big so just hope they don't reduce the amount on the block booking scheme.

Unfortunately they stated in the form for Croke Park tickets that you are not guaranteed tickets for future home games (ie. back in Landsdowne Road). With almost 30k less tickets available when we move back to LR, I'd imagine there will be more than a few disappointed heads around the place.

Well if you imagined that everyone ahead of you in the list apply for 4 tickets each(unlikely as that sounds) that would work out at about 6,500 tickets. Seeing as the capacity is increasing by 12,000 then mathematically that should guarantee you'd be getting tickets for all home games in future. But with the FAI involved in organising this, there are no gurantee's really are there!

I think thats just the block booking waiting list mate. Yeah 'nearly' everybody on the list got tickets, and some !, for Croker. A few were fcuked over by asking for 50e seats and FAI never gave them the option to upgrade to 70e so passed them by when the 50e predictably went first.

Anyway basically the whole Croker setup will have nought to do with new LR except you'd have had to taken Croker tickets to retain your place on the waiting list.

Not sure exactly when but myself and my mate are independently just past 900 on the list. I dunno what the story is with how many each place on the list is worth tickets wise i.e. just the one per head or otherwise. There's 6 of us dotted around the list and we tried in vain to get grouped in Croker but were grand as we could ask for extras.

I'm hoping to get sorted in new LR and the speculation is that the first 2k should be. But the FAI will ALWAYS surprise you when it comes to logic. Like asking current block bookers what extras they wanted for Croker and not setting a limit of it before asking waiting listers if wanted any themselves. That was shocking but luckily the capacity was big enough to absorb their tardiness.

I know that a few months before Croker it went over the 5k mark and it may have ended up a lot more closer to the Wales match but generally these latter day Johnny come latelies have no chance of getting into LR. With bad results and friendlies coming into the equation (although the most glam of the lot) you could see a lot falling off the list anyway. Many lads who got tickets for first two matches never got invoices for second two (but aren't crying over it it has to be said, they're hefty yokes to pay in one go, mine was 420).

The easy circulation of tickets for Croker has cheapened the perceived value of Ireland tickets and long may it continue so those of us who are bothered can get our big toes into the closed shop that LR will be. I expect a much better atmopshere in a tighter stadium built for footie(/rugby) full of footie fans who care/don't leave early/don't do the mexican wave. Many, many, many naive heads are going to get a big shock when the FAI aren't courting them to squeeze into LR after their few years of easy access. Normal service will resume, I'm just hoping lads on the waiting list before Croker was on the horizon get on the right side of the chopping block.

Not looking good for international football in this country when you see so many tickets available for home games: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=896

4 tickets for 100e and all offers are negotiable, no sh1t. I paid 70 for mine, to think could get 'em 25e a piece. Probably a few freebies circulating around tomorrow. If you're in Dublin you could do worse than take a stroll out there and see whats knocking about, might as well take advantage of the fairweatherers with more money than commitment.

Jeez No ! You know what I mean, you can get a whole group of lads that just say fcuk it why bother their arses going. Thats all.........but of course you knew that and are just trying to wind me up ! :o

I should always look back down a thread and see who I'm most likely to get on the wrong side of and prempt that with a qualifier but I'd be more time checking/prempting/qualifying than posting ! Me and my big mouth :D
