I know that a fair few on this site make their own banners and, if I'm not mistaken, there was talk of a specific IK banner getting done (which I will support and offer any assistance with, of course) so I thought I'd ask youse the same question that I'm asking on OTK.

We are well on the way to making another banner and we're talking now about what type it should be. Predictably we're all thinking about another Paisley size two pole job but, to be perfecly honest, I don't think we can fit anymore of that size in the Kop where we are now displaying. If you look at any picture of the Kop from last season you'll notice that all the big flags are down the front..

I think its obvious that the front of the Kop is being packed with banners and we can't fit anymore in to be honest. Look behind the Paisley banner and you'll see that there aren't a lot of flags around the Kop, they're all down the front. Now then, behind the goal next to were we have the Paisley banner there is a lad with a smaller sized waver. He sets it up on his own with no disruption to anyone else and it looks boss. What I'm thinking is that we should have more of this smaller style waver dotted around the stand rather than more and more great big banners down the front.

What do the IK people think? I'd be very interested in your opinions.

    Thank you.

I'm not revealing the actual design that we're going for until we actually start making it but we've got one deffo raring to go and a few more ready to decide on. As I've said to our lads, and I've had a word with a few about this now who sort a lot of these banners and wavers, we should really start doing something for the sides and the back of the stand. Even if the various groups like this site and the one I'm more involved in consider funding say three smaller wavers instead of one big banner then that will mean more flags across the Kop.

The way I see it, more flags on the Kop = better Kop = we win the League next season.

This is the first time I've had a chance to get decent pictures of the two smaller size wavers I mentioned. Taken just before KO tonight under the scoreboard..

They look very good alright ...

The concept of slightly smaller flags is a good one, ideally to be seen in their entirity, so as barnieslad suggests, putting them further up The Kop or down the sides would be great.

I fear it will take a while yet, before most of the Main Stand or Centenary Stand fans are ready to start flag waiving sadly .... though we'll have to keep on trying to encourage them until we get there.

Happy to contribute to a fund to help pay for some of these. Ideally, I'd love to see IrishKop produce one or two of "our own" and would love to see if there is sufficient support here to try organising something.

Great work Barnieslad, fair play to you mate.

I'd love to see some(flags) with current players on it. Imagine how the player would feel if he walked out to find a flag of him, waving in the Kop. Confidence and belief would be running through him no end. Which is what they need this year.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for our legends being represented, so maybe their flags could be placed elsewhere in the ground(getting everyone involved) and for the current crop to see that the Kop are behind them all the way for No.19..

I might be shot down but it's just a suggestion off the top of my head...

Well gerrard is there in the flag above. Could have a carra one and maybe a torres one but the flags show history as much as anything (players and moments). Can't over crowd the kop with flags...

That's why I suggested spreading the flags around the ground, and as for Gerrard, Torres and Carra being held aloft, I'm not sure this will change them as they are so highly revered already, but for someone like Masch, Kuyt, Reina and Johnson it could be a little thing that could make a huge difference in this years championship.

There was a cool Kuyt one mentioned here a few weeks ago with a caption somethin bout the passion of the city, it was top class, i might be slated for saying this but I think if any player has been deserving of a flag over the last few seasons I think Dirk has... who knows what confidence that would give him!

The smaller wavers are deffo the way to go. The front of the Kop is far too congested now but the sides of the stand are still empty of banners/flags. This size is ideal as we're not exactly allowed to do whatever we want. The stewards do step in from time to time as they did in the upper Annie against Atletico when the lads were told to take them down. The club don't want these wavers around the ground but they let them in the Kop.

The smaller wavers would be great to fill out the Kop though and its deffo the way forward. IK could quite easily make these types of wavers and I'll help in that if you want me to, no problem. As long as they're KFS compliant, of course :)

One thing to remember about wavers - "a picture paints a thousand words".
