John Terry has pleaded with Jamie Carragher to quit international retirement in order to boost England’s World Cup hopes.

Captain Terry is undeniably aware that World Cup 2010 is probably his own last chance to lift the Jules Rimet trophy, and he is equally aware that the likelihood of him doing so is greatly improved by a squad containing Carragher.

The Liverpool stopper called time on his international career in 2007 after being frequently overlooked by Steve McClaren, despite leading The Reds to two Champions League finals with his consistently heroic performances.

Back then, the likes of Ledley King, Wes Brown and Jonathan Woodgate all got the nod ahead of Carragher, but now he would almost be a certainty if Terry or Rio Ferdinand got injured, as the latter is for Saturday’s clash with Kazakhstan.

Terry’s message was simple, the whole squad wants Carragher back.

“We could do with Carra back in the squad,†Terry told the Daily Express.

“Going into the World Cup next year it would be great if he did come back. It would make the competition even more difficult for us.

“We all understood his frustration when he retired, but we would all like him to come out of retirement.â€

How Ledley King got the nod ahead of Carra was a disgrace.
Carra did the right thing by calling time on his international career & i don`t think a few comments will bring him back & rightly so.

Too late now.Would be uproar amongst the Ingerland fans if he came back just for the tournament and it serves them right not giving him the respect or games he deserved when he was in his prime.

Just rememner lads, Capello didnt pick King before Carra and from what I can see, England dont have a decent right full.

If this snowballs ... I can see Carra thinking about it. And if he does decide to go back, good luck to him. Non-Injury permitting, One competition wont hamper his career at LFC too much

No way in hell.Regardless of who the player is or how good he is,you cant just waltz in and take somebodys place in the squad whos been traveling to fcuking kazakhstan etc. while youve been on a beach! And that applies to everyone from Gary Neville to Nando.

Good point on Capello-its the fans who called him a traitor Id be worried about.Theyll argue theyve won every qualifying game without him.

What about Glen Johnson though-he's been superb this season?

When did Ireland sign Neville and Nando?
Good bit of business by Trap, Keane and Nando didn't work out at pool but at national level could be so different!

Do one Terry. Carra needs to concentrate on his liverpool career. Disgraceful how he was treated by Engerland.

I hope Carra doesn't go to the world cup!! As a proud Irishman, I could not stand to see England win the world cup. A prospect which would much improve with a player of Jamie Carragher's undeniable quality featuring in the side.

    CARRA-THE MAN-THE LEGEND

Carra will not go back on his word (hopefully) after being treated like s**t by En-ger-land, full stop.
