Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has held discussions with manager Rafa Benitez over his lack of first-team football and admits he would 'like' to play for Juventus. The Italian failed to make an impact in his debut season in England following a £7million move from Udinese last July. Dossena was consistently second choice to Fabio Aurelio for the Reds and the left-back admits he is not happy with his limited opportunities. The 27-year-old has talked to Benitez and the pair are said to have reached an agreement to find a 'common solution'. Confession "It has been an important experience", he told Italian media. "I've learnt English and I've compared myself at a different and high level of football. "But I would like to have more opportunities (to play). And I've spoken about it with Benitez. We agreed to find a common solution." Dossena has been linked with a return to his homeland, as Juventus - who were understood to be competing with Liverpool for his signature in 2008 - are rumoured to be keen on defensive reinforcements. And the Italy international confesses that a move to the Stadio Delle Alpi would appeal. He added when asked about Juventus: "Of course I would like it. Someone spoke about this possibility at the end of last season. But then Liverpool arrived.
Id like to play for Liverpool Andrea, but its not going to happen. This I think is one of the rare cases where I think even Rafa will hold his hands up and admit he got it wrong. Im mean £7m for a Dominos Pizza Delivery Man, Udinese saw us coming.
Be great if we got near what we paid for him as we have enough cover there now with the emergence of Insua
Kept his head down and tried to improve, lost alot of weight, never moaned to the press about not getting chances and wanting out. He will get my respect for that. Not Liverpool quality but hope things work out for him.
as I'v said elsewhere ideally Id like him to have another year to come good, but I just dont see it. As you say he did try hard. I guess the pace of the premiership is too much for him. Lets see what happens though
spot on murp, never liked him as a player, but as a lad he seems spot on. lost weight, trained hard and didnt moan to the press - went about things the right way and went to see Rafa. hope we get a bita money back on him and I wish him all the best for the future. just wasnt up to playing for us. But i'll remember him for those goals against real and the scum
If they get the 6 million I just hope it goes to rafa's transfer fund, my worry is that whatever we get by selling players won't go back into building the team.
