money money money. he wanted to leave villa to play in the champions league, now he joined a club that have no chance of getting into the champions league, at least villa are still in europe.
Good read, i just think he's not the type of player we need one that it motiviated by money, if he came to us his wages would still have improved, he looks like some twat saying he would move for champions league football and then move to a club with no European football next season.
cant wait till we destroy city on the pitch next year and barry will realise what an idiot he actually is!!wouldent suprise me if villa fans booed him next season
"My mind's made up, I want to join Liverpool. There's no going back, it's time for me to move on. I'm desperate to play Champions League football and that's why I have to leave Villa. "I hope the Villa fans understand. I have given my all for the club for 10 years and I'm only leaving because now I need to test myself at the very highest level. "And I can honestly say if Villa were in the Champions League I wouldn't even consider leaving this great club" - Gareth Barry, June 28, 2008.
Absolutely it makes no sense. A bit like when Lucas Neill snubbed us for West Ham because they gave him more money. Even though they nearly got relegated. Not that I think Neill was any loss. The only thing that I as a Liverpool fan care about in this case is does this mean we can keep Alonso?
I think Barry has handled this very badly particularly with the CL football aspect...but I suppose when you reach his stage in a career and somebody throws silly money at you I can see why he went for it...
