You can replace screens but it is sometimes very expensive, If you have a monitor you can use your Laptop as a desk top, plug it in and transfer the stuff you need onto a memory stick or something similar.

You can get screen fixed, my brothers acer screen cost 200euro.
Other than that you can connect it to a monitor like redmurph said or what you can also do is get a caddy for your laptop hard drive. Check whether your hard drive is IDE or SATA.
You can get caddys cheap on dealextreme.com like $5 ide and $12 SATA but it will take anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks to arrive. You can pay a little more off Komplett.ie or i think Pixmania has them aswell. Basically put your hard drive in it and use it as an external or transfer to another drive/laptop.

That's if paying €200 for a screen is too much...as laptops are really cheap on laptopsdirect.ie.

If you buy a usb hard drive caddy from ebay (approx 15€ inc delivery) you can put the hard-drive into this and connect it to your PC or your new Laptop. The added advantage is you can use any free space on the hard drive as a backup for you're new laptop - thus you can be a laptop beater as many times are you like! I think this is your best solution. Plus you get an external harddrive out of it

If you're not sure what Im talking about - drop me a PM
