What do people think about Dean Kiely leavin the Ireland squad, seemingly its because he wasnt included in the panel for 2moros game with nigeria. Personnaly I can't blame him seen as Given is carrying a knock and he still cant get in the team, it must be very disheartening for him and he just said fook this im out of here. Dont think Given should be playin just in case anything happens him, as he is vital for Bulgaria match.

But Kiely is older than Given so why not give the younger guys some experience in a meaningless end of season friendly.

In fairness, would the younger guy get his game in Bulgaria if Given got injured during the week? I don't think he would, it would be Kiely. So he should be starting the week before in the friendly. He has been in the squad for about ten years or more, travelling to the arse end of europe and never getting his game. Then when he should get his game, they don't even have him in the squad. It's disrespectful to the guy in my opinion after sticking with the squad for so long. Fair enough if they think he's too old but in that case they shouldn't call him up in the first place.

Sure didn he jack it in for a few years, I get your point but thats the joys of been a sub keeper, he was in the same situation at west brom, playing all last season and when they came up Carson took over until the last few games, Given shouldn be risked and wrapped in cotton wool till next sat and give the youngsters a go.

Yes but if that's the case why did they ask to meet Kiely last year to bring him back?

Have to say I agree with you RedRay1, think Westwood should be gettin a run tomorrow, and Given shouldn't be playin any part because of the knock he's been carryin.

Im nearly sure Roy Keane said somethin along those lines about Given playin in these matches when he's probably the most important name on the team sheet and there's a risk of him bein injured for a huge game next week!

I actually think what Keane said was that Given was playing in these games so he could collect over 200 caps. The smart cnut.

Me too, couldnt understand it as Given was always going to be the number 1. Bit disappointed with him walking but can understand his point of view.
The thing is, if Given was injured I would rather a tried and tested (at high level football) Kiely in goal rather than the relatively inexperienced Henderson.

I can't understand why Trap is startin with Given in London, if he gets injured we're left with a Keeper who didn't even know he was Irish until last year! not giving Kiely the start is a stupid decision and I fully understand his decision to walk away. He played in the friendly this time last year and was magnificent OK he knew he wouldn't get ahead of Given but I expect he thought when friendlies came about he would at least get a half. I think he should call up Joe Murphy from S****horpe now.

If Joe Murphy and Kieran Westwood are merriting such praise i'd like to tout Brian Murphy, LOI player of the season last year, conceded only 14 goals all season, ridicolous that he is not been looked at.

As for Kiely he deserves more respect IMO.

I'd agree with you about Brian Murphy, but Trap has no intention of even entertaining the idea of any LOI player. Podge Kenny is supposed to get a call i heard.
