Rafa Benitez has admitted he could break Liverpool’s transfer record in order to bring the title to Anfield next season. Benitez believes the difference between Manchester United and Liverpool this season was obvious, pinpointing the fact that United had a whole host of £15 million+ players to rotate all season, while the Merseysiders have spent that kind of money just twice in their history. The Spaniard has been linked to a clutch of big names this summer, with Carlos Tevez and David Silva just two of The Reds’ mooted targets. Benitez admits that he will have to raise some funds himself, but he conceded that he may have to break the £20.1 million record splashed out on Fernando Torres to usurp United. "We may well break our transfer record, but certainly not Manchester United's. But it does not matter about the prices, it is doing the right thing and finding the right players,” stated the Liverpool boss. "The next step is to overcome Manchester United, and that is the hardest. It does all come down to the money they have been able to spend, that is the difference. "If we want to reduce this gap we have to be really good in the transfer market this summer. That can be the difference between winning the two or three extra points that we would need to win the title. "We do not have that sort of money, so we have to be cute and clever in the market. Then it does not matter if you have money or not. "When you have a lot of money it is easier because nobody notices your mistakes. For us it is important to find good targets to buy and make ourselves successful. "The fact that we have won nine of our last 10 games and not won the title just shows the high level of the Premier League. I was in work yesterday. Theres a piece of hardware called a LUN for networking on pcs I had the boss turn around when it wasnt working and said the network was flopping Ha - a floppy lun... I was pissing myself laughing (for those too slow, look up the indian definition!)
