I found this on another forum,I am posting it here as I am sure you will agree its a good cause.

Crumlin Hospital Closures - Parents Need Your Help

I have a 4 year old child that suffers from Scoliosis (from birth).
This is a non-curable spinal disorder that needs fully body cast changes every two to three months maximum (due to body growth).
The only place that does this in Ireland for my child is the Crumlins Children's Hospital.
I have just been informed this morning (16th May, 2009) that the government has ordered the closure of the wards for this treatment (St Josephs ward being one) and others too!

The great effect Crumlin Hospital treatment has on my child's spine cannot be understated. These pics are of my child before cast and after:

    http://i42.tinypic.com/2rpsadu.jpg

This treatment is absolutely vital not just because of the spine but also if the spine is twisted, further pressure is brought down to bear on the kidneys and lungs of my child. Causing them major further problems.

I know and met others that come from as far as Kerry and Donegal, who go to Dublin as this is the only place that treats this problem.

What the hell is Harney and this frakin government doing!
This and other planned closures in the next two months will effect many, many children not just my own.

Its one thing to slap more taxes on us as adults but when they start closing down the vital services and the treatment wards for our already suffering kids, this encroaches upon inflicting physical and mental torture to our nations children! Harney's stripping of the hospital basic services and absolute vital staff effects cancer children, spinabifida, leukaemia suffers, to name just a few areas.

One news story today: 'Ward closure could kill my son'
    http://www.independent.ie/national-n...n-1742094.html

Only the lowest of the low strike out at our children!
Only the lowest of the low causes further pain to children!
Only the lowest of the low takes away their vital life health care!
...And then they have the nerve to ask for our vote! Its criminal!

    It's a fcuking disgrace.

The way our health system has been neglected is more than shocking.

As for Crumlin hospital, there a lot of great people who work there, I've had plenty of experience with them through my Sister and they were very kind to her. If wards are closed and cut-backs made then people suffer enormously. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a country's health system should be paramount. It's the last bloody place that a government should look to scab money from.

Nothing the government do anymore would surprise me. For all the money we had in this country and we still have a third world health system. Now the bad times are here it's necessities like our health system that is suffering meanwhile for example they are planning to spend 60 million euro on a new bridge.
Bloody shower of wasters we have running the country and the sooner this general election (which it will be before time) is called the better.

    Absolute madness ...

Just make sure you all vote, at each and every election from now on guys ! ;)

Personally, I'd like to see the Number of TDs in the Dail reduced to about 33% of what we currently have, don't see why we need more than 1-2 per county to be quite honest, and the money saved on their salaries could go into Health Care (eh, not to pay Mary Hearney's salary though, she's had more than long enough to show she can't sort it)

Nothing suprises me any more with this so called government. People really need to give it too them at the locals in June, then hopefully there'll be a general and we can get them out once and for all. I spent many a night in Crumlin as a lad and can't praise the staff highly enough.same goes for Tallaght.(another childrens unit they are trying to close)

Now maybe i am wrong here but how do people get jobs in government that never worked in that environment before,we have education minister that was a teacher etc so how can she (Harney) know anything that goes on in a hospital from day to day
I seen the pictures of Dub 13 child and it is heart breaking to see and it must be hard enough when the service's are there but when they are going to be taking away i can't imagine what your going through. But if your ever thinking of raising money some how you can count me in,as i know how great the staff are there and how commited they are to helping everyone that enters the hospital.Good luck with your family in the future

Disgraceful!! one of my mates baby had hole in the heart when born and was treated there, she revcieved the best of care.
Me, him and another chap did a sponsored hair and beard growing from sep to chistmas a few years ago to raise funds for hospital.
(notmy best look ) The system has been kept afloat with fund raising for years and now they are cutting it further!! madness

thats heart breaking hate the way the children are always effected, two of our respite beds have been closed which means that could effect up to 14different families and children every week. wrecks my head and people need to stand up to the government tell them its not acceptable.

I wasnt going to repond to this as I would only upset myself but I really cannot understand how these fckers sleep at night. To them these kids are just another code-3 numbers and a letter on a piece of paper. they make me sick, u can be sure that when mrs and mr bigwig's son or daughter is ill they wont have to wait:mad:

My 19month old neice had an op 7 weeks ago in temple st hospital and the staff were absolutely brilliant, they looked after her really well and aided in her speedy recovery and she was home after 12 days.

The ward in which she was looked after is now being closed for 4 months(its a specialist ward) an absolute joke

Unfortunately she suffered a seizure/stroke in her cot and is back in temple st for the last 4 weeks and will be for a long time and will never be the same again, I wont go into detail but we will never have the girl we had 4 weeks ago back.

The nurses and docs(and there was 28 that worked on her) do not get the recognition they deserve and now they want to make them unemployed.

The staff deserve so much better and are truly the angels of the wards.

I have seen some heartbreaking cases up there and to deny these children in Crumlin or anh hospital any help that makes their life a little bit easier borders on criminal in my eyes

Im sure im not the only one lads but im getting fed up of this govt, and its not just fianna fail, its all of em the whole system the banks everything..they dont care they honestly dont its when people realize this that we can start to fight against it. they are only human beings too but if it was brian cowens child in this situation this wouldnt happen. i think its a joke that in this day and age that we still highly pay and respect(i use that term lightly) elected representatives to run the country.

i honestly believe were past it as a society, technology is feared instead of welcomed and encouraged by the government..One doctor does more good to the human population in an hour than the dail does in 10 years.

My da is 64 recently retired teacher of 40 years and he reckons if it was anyone who could sort it out it would be the teachers as they would be so organised..just my two cents but i know im not the only one growing tired of this age old system

My Old Man ran a gig in Kenny's Pub Lucan couple of months back and raised over €4000 for the hospital.

I personally think that this needs to be sorted by them Plicks!! in government and take the responsability off the likes of my dad and others to raise funds. Not that they mind but hey its not their jobs!

Former Minister for Health (2000 - 2004) Michael Martin was a secondary school teacher, for example. By that logic, all would be perfect in our health care system.

Its a disgrace to think they would even consider cutting back, my mam worked in Crumlin for 25 years and I think the staff in there are all amazing, looking after all those little sick angels. Anything that could be done to stop these cut backs should be done, anything.
