    http://www.setanta.com/uk/Articles/Football/2009/05/08/Prem-Liverpool-warned-off-Lavezzi/gnid-51949/

Liverpool have been told to forget about launching a €20 million summer bid for Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Rafa Benitez is desperate to add a world class attacking talent to play alongside Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard next season, following the failure of Tottenham's Robbie Keane.

Lavezzi is the current Napoli number seven, a man dubbed ‘the new Maradona’ during his time at Boca Juniors although his style of football has also drawn comparisons to Carlos Tevez.

Benitez wants to find a man who can ‘float between the lines’ and, while seven league goals in 28 appearances in not prolific, Lavezzi has creativity in abundance.

Reports suggest Liverpool would be ready to match the €20 million they spent on Robbie Keane to land the Napoli star, but club director Pierpaolo Marino insists both Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik will not be sold.

"He and Hamsik will not move, so write it on a sign," Marino told Calciomercato.

But surely this is the main transfer forum.

If all transfer rumours go into the same thread, the thread gets confused.
Does it not make sence to have a thread about individual players in the transfer forum. Otherwise, what was the reason for the new forum being set up? You would simply have 1 thread in the entire Transfer forum.

I've got a few more that I'll post and if the Mods think all transfer talk should be in the 1 thread, fair enough, they can delete the individual threads... I won't be offended.;)

    Just my 2 cents:

I think just random rumours like this should go in the "possible in's and outs's thread" - we're gonna be linked with dozens of players over the summer and if they all get their own thread then its going to get very messy.

When we've signed somebody/confirmed to be in talks with somebody then we can give them their own thread to discuss?

    Just my opinion anyway!........

If we already sign someone, they would be LFC players and as such would have no place in a transfer thread.

Transfers are rarely discussed by the club prior to the completion of the deal, therefore the opportunity to debate the merits of a certain player is limited.

If all transfer talk is restricted to the 1 thread, it becomes a jumble of information.
If individual targets have their own separate thread, then it makes it easier to access that particular player.

For example, the Summer transfer thread is only 16 posts long and already 7 players have been mentioned.

If the thread continues for say 10 more pages, and one of the original targets (say Valencia) become more prominent in a transfer saga, information starts to repeat itself.

If there was a Valencia thread, the merits of this player is debated continuously. It's easier to read the thread from the start and get everyone's opinion on the subject, rather than simply repeating the same arguments as may have been posted earlier on the Summer Transfer thread.

The other positive of this system is that if there is no more repeated discussion of the player, or no more rumours surface, the thread simply dies.

The Summer transfer thread can stay, possibly as a sticky at the top, to discuss general transfer needs at the club.

I'd agree with that, seems more in keeping with why a separate forum was set up, with individual threads for different players. The possible in's and out's thread is over 40 pages....

I completely agree mate, makes it a lot easier to have a discussion about a particular player and any updates will be easier to use in the thread!

Eh.....we have a nasty habit of transfer saga's dragging on and on in fairness:DWe're notoriously slow about tying up deals before theyve become public!

Take last year-I can remember it being public knowledge for quite a few weeks that we were after Keane,N'Gog(the daily mail in fairness broke the story yonks before anyone),Dossena,Degen,Riera-I can distinctly remember rumours about all these that we were in talks with them-therefore they would have deserved their own thread.

I can understand and agree with some of what you are saying-I think players like Barry should maybe have their own thread as hes a very likely target but we cant just open up a new thread for every player mentioned in the papers-some of which we've never heard of,the source is shite and who we'll never hear of again. Then we'll have one very messy forum come september 1st!

Threads that do not have anymore information forthcoming, simply die away.

Take the off topic forum, threads are started there everyday and may only have a small number of replies. If someone sees a funny picture of say Rooney, rather than putting it in an existing comedy picture thread, or whatever, a new thread is started.
No one complains of that being a messy forum.

This is no different, in fact it's more relevant in that it relates to LFC.

Thats partly why an Off Topic Thread was created bud-to stop needless threads being created-eg. our good friend LFC MADS questions about Evertonians-he was told that he should have put it in the off topic thread by the mods instead of starting a new thread.

Look,I can see you clearly feel strongly about this for some reason and Im not going to win you over;)I dont have any more authority than you-it is Dub13 who will ultimately decide-I was just offering my opinion on the new set-up and not having a go at you lad.:)

I've read 25million Euro, but he seems a similar prospect as Teves, maybe not as physical. It seems like a lot of money for a young player though.

This is from Goal.com, which I'd normally take with a pinch of salt, but who knows.

    No offence taken.
I just assumed that this new forum was for this purpose.

This lad would be a great signing I think but I've only seen him play maybe once. He's young so would be a good understudy to Torres. He's small and fast. He's not as physical as Tevez but is a better finisher and would score more goals. He'd be a better signing than Tevez me thinks

But at 25million that would be too much for an understudy?
