I thought I'd get the ball rolling on this new transfer thread. Know noting about him, but this was posted on another site. Liverpool in for Spanish youngster Jesus Fernandez http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... -21360062/ Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is ready to beat Barcelona to the signing of Spanish teenage sensation Jesus Fernandez - nicknamed Suso. Benitez's spies have been to see the Cadiz youngster, an attacking midfielder in the Cesc Fabregas mould, and he hopes his Spanish connections will help him win the race. Suso has been offered a deal at Barca but his advisors think he could get lost in their 'system' while Benitez has big plans to bring in top young talent at Anfield after a recent reshuffle. Benitez is set to recruit a couple of new coaches at youth level - including a top fellow countryman - and they are looking at the Spanish market as well as scouting for the next Steven Gerrard at home. Suso is expected to come to Liverpool for talks, possibly as early as next week, with Cadiz resigned to losing their best prospect in years.
Know nothing about him but i'd like to see us signing a lot of good young players, and if he's being sought by barca he must be quite special. I do think that we need different coaches to help develop these very technique based players as i'm not sure that we'll get the most out of them with the current set up.
I put this in the possibles ins and outs last night.....chances are we're never gonna hear of this lad again so doesnt deserve a thread of his own imo!
Sorry howie , think we're gonna hear a bit more about him - he's signed http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11669_5394698,00.html
I wont be sorry if he's any good.........and I did say "chances are",which was a fair comment considering we've been linked with 53 players so far this summer and only signed 1 of them!
Hows this for a flag "Anfield is our Church, Fowler is our God, Fernandez is Jesus and the starting 11 are a blessing".... I'll get my coat
Fabregas was signed at 16 and broke into the Gooners squad at 18 when Wenger threw him in knowing the only way to get experience is to give him some as he has shown will all his young signings. Whats really the chance of Rafa doing something similar with this guy even if he was the new Maradona? Id say none whatsoever, its all well and good signing these youngsters but how many will actually be given a chance, apart from Insua who is still a fringe player how many of the probably 30+ youngsters that Rafa has signed been given a chance? Rafa just tends to buy players that he sees just going straight into the first team otherwise you havent a hope.
The way the game is today it's harder and harder now for managers to throw kids in at 18 unless they are the real deal. Ok the only way they can get experience is by throwing them in but at the same time for all Wengers kids it ain't brought him much success in the last four or five years. If you look at his teams that had success most of the teams were made up of proven players. It's the so called experts now saying he needs to buy proven quality despite falling all over his attitude to younger players not so long back.
Wengers problem is they are all kids he is trying to bring through at the same time, if they were brought in 2 or 3 over the course of a season mixing with the established players it would be a different story. I mean the fact that Fabregas is considered a senior player at the Gooners despite being only 22 speaks volumes.
You never know anyway - with Rafa having full control over the academy & reserves we may see players promoted quicker than before Sad state of affairs and I hope it isn't the case but it's well known that part of the power struggle included Rafa wanting control over the academy. Stubborn as he is, is it beyond the realms of possibility that he didn't promote to many youngsters to prove a point / until he got full control? Also well known to be fair that in order to preserve a player's career (rightly or wrongly) Rafa prefers to wait until a player is around the 20 mark before playing them in the first team I think we'll see more of them get a chance in the likes of the Carling Cup this year - likely to be a reasonable turnover of younger players also so let's hope the Quality of the incoming ones are significantly better than those heading to pastures new
The signing's just been confirmed on the Mirror website... nothin on .tv just yet though, I'm sure their just taking time to come up with some Jesus headlines... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...ge-sensation-jesus-fernandez-115875-21479909/
Yeah, I seen it on the snn site a little while ago Jesus ehh, with a name like that he must be good son of Robbie
Well last season only 1 player who would be considered as a regular 1st team starter started in the carling cup game against spurs. And that proved to be a disaster. Even tho it seems like a big coup gettin this new lad with the likes of barca etc after him, i find it hard to get too excited about it based on the amount of previous talented youngsters we hav got in recent years and who i hav heard nothing of since.
yeah I can see the headlines alright, the second comming, the savior, might even get something with a miracle in it! all jokin aside, we've bought that many youngsters over the last few years we're bound to get one eventually that makes an impact.. weren't our scouts looking at Ronaldo before the mancs signed him? its easy to be hopeful at every signing like this but we have to take some positive out of it if we beat Barca and the mancs to him and I know its been a while but we have had players that have made an impact at his age before!
