We've spent the week in work going through the entries and following novelty punters bets. Shortlist is down to 3. Some may say you reach rock bottom when you are punting on the Eurovision but thankfully I reached that point some time back.

I kinda wanted us to win this just for the novelty of it, until i heard the 6 o clock news earlier on.
Norway football fans going nuts over there cos their national tv broadcaster won't be screening the world cup this year because they can't afford the rights cos they pumped all their money into staging the eurovision.
might mean the end to fair city or something :(

Seriously imagine My Lovely Horse at it.

I definitely think instead of pulling out Ireland should take the piss every year until we're not allowed in or they fix the competition.

It would give the country something to laugh about every year.

We sent the wrong song, quite simply. Yes, Niamh sung it very well but it was never going to win. Germany received votes across the board. The song sounded catchy the first time but I'm afraid the reprise showed its limitations.

To what extent did we suffer from the Dustin episode. Does the rest of Europe take us seriously any more in Eurovision?

It doesn't matter what song we send or who sings it, us and the brits have no other neighbours that's why we were at the end of the table.
Would give anything to see my lovely horse, get dick byrne to play ted would be amazing, would win too i'd say

Join the group and invite all your friends.
Wierder crap has happened through facebook, if we got a serious amount of people join it might get media attention.

Nothing would beat it.

@Tarabuses: Are you being serious here? There's a few points I'd make.
Yes the song was sh*te but Niamh is old and she didn't actually sing it very well. The German song was sh*te and received votes alot alright but you'll see from the amount of different countries that received 12 points that the competition is a joke, before there used to be two or three countries battling for the 10 and 12 points of every country, that's when it was fair.

The Eurovision was a joke for us long before Dustin, that's why Dustin was sent, to take the piss outta the bullshit competition, even the words of his song said "Block votes, Shock votes".
There is no chance that the Dustin incident harmed Irelands chances, Irelands chances were gone since bringing in Tele voting.

Italy pulled out of the Eurovision a few years ago because of the voting,we should do the same its a joke at this stage.

Another option would be to get Wales,Scotland,Norther Ireland,England & the Isle of Man to enter separately and play those dirty eastern European's at there own game

They are not seperate countries and are all represented by the BBC.

BretHart, Niamh sang the song very well and deserved more votes than she got. Block voting doesn't explain why most countries gave us no votes whatsoever.

The beard
30-05-2010, 06:20 PM
Niamh got the biggest cheer and applause of the night when she finished singing, its not a song contest but lick the arse of your richest neighbour or dont invade us competition. We deffo should just leave it alone,

Its a load of crap anyway with or without countries voting for each other.

I would disagree, I think people are overrating Niamhs performance of the song, I thought she was pretty poor tbh.
Block voting explains why we'll never win it again, and it does explain why most gave us no votes, because they are no where near us.
Dustin had nothing to do with this.
