I'm watching this now - missed it the first time round but borrowed the box set and just finished the 3rd series now.
Best show I've ever watched, it's excellent. Very cleverly written and just keeps getting better as it goes along. Can't wait for the next series!.

yeah its a great show, just persevere with the second series as its not the strongest out of the 5,but the last 3 series are very good.

2nd only to Soprano's imo. Didn't like season 2. The rest were brilliant!

Its amazing stuff, I find it really hard to choose between that and Sopranos. The Wire is so much more raw and close to the bone than Sopranos I think it just edges it for me, also the Wire has just a fantastic array of wonderful characters from Omar to Clay Davis, they all have their brilliant scenes and one liners.

    Aint no thang! !

Season 2 is the weakest but still has some great characters, season 4 is the best imo. Its hard to believe that the guy who plays McNulty has the most poshest british accent in real life.

Go into your sky+ settings and add 10mins before and after recording starts, it used to always happen with me, a lot of the irish channels are notorious for starting programmes at the wrong time

I watched all 5 seasons twice now, IT IS THE BEST TV SHOW OF ALL TIME followed by the Sopranos(let down by the last 2 seasons) and the Shield

Bollo*, i've never watched it. I only caught onto Dexter late aswell.

It'll have to be one hell of a show to rival the Sopranos!

Stringer is English? That must be the best accent of all time.
Nearly finished series four now. Word of warning though, be careful what you read about The Wire. There are spoilers everywhere.

4 episodes into series 3. cracking show.

I must be the only one enjoyed series 2. took about 5-6 episodes to get going, but finished strong.

With the slow movement of the show, i'd say it was a 'mare to watch it on teh tv (ie 1 episode each week).

i bought the dvds from bangcd. only stg£10 each.

the brother is big in to his movies and tv shows,he's always banging on about lost,24,grey's anatomy, the sopranos, dexter, the wire etc.got in to dexter for a while but soon lost interest.might check out the wire as i've heared it's very good.
one programme i did get in to was called underbelly,it's an australian drama, have any of yis seen it?
the brother burned a load of episodes of it on to dvd for me,thought it was very good...
