I would love to see what people will end up paying for this....
British rockers Radiohead have shocked fans by announcing plans to release their long-awaited seventh album through their website.
Guitarist Jonny Greenwood says the new LP, 'In Rainbows', will be available on October 11 - and the band is not setting a price to download the version, allowing fans to decide how much they pay for the release.
yeah saw that last night on the news the only thing is they said they will be bringing out a doublesided album or something in a month that will cost 40pound to either download or buy.

Kinda reminds me of what Prince does. He has allows his charter members of his website to download songs/albums for free but when he does a concert he adds an extra £10 to the ticket prices to pay for the free songs. Great idea.
They should be paying us to download it, life is depressing enough without listening to radio head. :D

Nothing wrong with being honest, everyone does it, Im just pointing out 40p (their registration fee) for an entire album is a bit expensive :)

id say very few people will pay for it when half the people with pc's these days download music for nothing!!

i reckon, if music fans were given the choice, they'd pay *something* for music. At the moment music is far too expensive - also in some countries its far cheaper than in others, i think that's what gets a lot of people peeved. I reckon if albums were priced at between 5 and 10 euro a lot more people would buy them. Right??!!

The cost of pressing a cd is something like 30 cent and including packaging around €1.
I read also that the net cost of a cd to shops is in the region of €7-€9 so when they so their 3 for €20/€25 they are still making money as they are usually promotions run by labels so get them in net for even less.
So next time you pick up your €19.99 cd remember where €19 of that is going €10 to the shop and the rest to the record company.
I also find torrent downloads actually better quality than the rips of cds that I used to upload into my i-tune playlist so I would never buy a cd now unless there is a free dvd with it or something.
