Dublin South by-election - RTE's George Lee, Liverpool Supporter
http://dynimg.rte.ie/000229110cdr.jpg
Lee now is forty-six years young, the bespectacled boyish features still intact despite his time in the trenches. He lives in Cabinteely, Dublin with his wife Mary and their two children, Alison and Harry. "Do I have any hobbies?," he says as if the question might explode in his face. "I prefer to call them my escapes." His greatest escape is his family and his greatest extravagance is a Segway bought in the US on a recent family holiday. He supports Liverpool FC and he couldn't survive without his wife, Mary. "She's essential," he says. "I would not be able to function without Mary. I would fall apart." Taken from, article on “After The Gold Rush” in the RTE Guide
Think myself its great to see George Lee putting himself up for election and trying to do something and not just talking about it. He’s always talked common sense even if he comes over as a bit gloomly. Hopefully this will be the start of new people coming into politics, and a clear out of the rest of the dáil in another while.
George if your looking in, ive one question...... How in the name of Fcuk, are we going to afford some big money signings for next season?:p any ideas..please !!!

What party is he in?
Fine Gael
I am so disappointed that on his official profile page (http://georgelee.finegael.ie/Representatives/common/index.cfm/TD_Key/1274) it makes no mention of him being a supporter of LFC. I hope he is not a closet supporter :D:):D

Very good point mate and thats before, we go on to ask why he didn't launch his campaign from IrishKop.com ;)
I reckon, now FG have this fella signed up and he gets elected, thats Bruton moved from Finance to Leader of FG for the next general election, George becomes Finance Spokesman / Minster (perhaps) and the very nice Enda Kenny resigned to the back benches (I've never met the man, but gather from others he's a very decent guy, but clearly does not have the charisma (spelling ?) to be a national leader ....)
.... with that set up, they just might win !
Personally, I'm not a pro-FG fan and recent times have seen me vote FF or a mix of FF / Independents, but no doubt about it, it's time for a change, assuming the change is half way acceptable to the voters !

Your probably right, the usual nepotism in politics will probably get one of the other canidates like Shay Brennan in. Imo George Lee might be a boring fecker but at least he talks a bit of sense.

I think this is a misprint???? Surely he meant he could'nt survive without Liverpool in his life not his wife??????????????

what a joke, politics becoming pop idol.
We should just get people to vote every week for their party, might help the coffers too!

jesus, i wouldnt like to see that at all, bruton seems to be a horrible scheming whore, dont like the look of him at all. think kenny has to leave from leadership alright though for fine gael to get that last killer blow.
