The way things are happening there at the moment they could struggle to make the top four this year.

They sack their most successful manager ever and replace him with a man with little experience and apparently not the respect of the dressing room.

Terrys out with a broken cheekbone, drogba rushes back only to find himself now facing a suspension, shevchenko looks half the player he once was and is now getting booed off, Carvalho and fat frank are still injured.

Most importantly the owner who bought them their success is now getting dog abuse off the fans for treating the club like a toy. He could pack up very soon.

The next few months could be very funny watching Chelsea

As much as I'd love to say Chelsea are finished, I think its much too early to be coming to such conclusions. I mean, its still September, they are only 3 points behind ourselves, the new manager has only being coaching his players for over a week, and we're talking about a club who have finished in the top two for the past four seasons, and been to two European Cup semi-finals. So for me, Chelsea, unfortunately, are not finished.

Dont think they are finished but good to see them struggle all the same, the african nations cup is on in january so this will add to their woes, still expect to finish in the top four but would be funny if they didnt.

i wouldn't write them off just yet but not looking too good.

I reckon they'll have a new top coach in place for christmas - most likely Hiddink as soon as he walks away form the Russian team.

I do think they will struggle for top 4 this year as the whole 'attacking' thing isnt really what they do as if the midfiled is pushing up its exposing their defence.

Did anyone think Whelans comment about Drogba kicking Baird in the face was strange that the didnt deserve a yellow because he wasnt looking at the player when he kicked him in the snot?

To kick a player square in the face with your studs you have to have your foot at least 5 feet off the ground and has to be worth a yellow for dangerous play surely!

I'd be surprised if they finish in the top six this season. I really will be. there's to much going on there at the moment. I don't see much cohesion there at all.

come on, top 6.

This is chelsea's bad run, every team drops points, they have lost there manager, lampard is out drogba out and terry out. there is still enough class there to get them into the top 4, you dont become a bad team over night. i know moaniho was a god to them, but when the team gets its key players back they will come good again.

if we were with out gerrard, carragher and torres would we suddently find it hard to finish in the top 6.

I disagree Chelsea will be a Uefa Cup team next season. Chelsea are not the great team you make out, that they had Jose that turned them into a formidible force through his tactics of grinding down team.

Now they seem to be trying to re-invent the wheel a play like Arsenal which they are not set up to do and will struggle playing this way.

Chelseas back 4 has always had a lot of protection from the midfield which they seem to be abandoning, look at the 2 one on ones Fulham had at the end of the game which they should have scored.

No. Because we'd have Alonso, Agger and Voronin/Crouch to step in. I really don't see that quality apart from the usual starting eleven for Chelsea.

Here's my prediction on the top six come seasons end:

1. Liverpool
2. Man Utd
3. Arsenal
4. Everton (sorry to say)
5. Man City
6. Chelsea

That Everton one is a joke right? City will finish above them. Everton cant be let back into the Champions League after last time, knocked out of the CL & Uefa Cup qualifiers inside of 5 weeks.

The top 4 will be the same but in a different order, Spurs will come good sooner or later and will be in the mix for the top 6 finish. As for Chelsea you can never count them out. If the players still have the never say die attitude as they had under Mourinho there not finished. With Terry out now and Drogba and along with Fat Frank the next few weeks are a worry for Chelsea supporters.

dont think they are finished to be honest they are struggling and theres alot to blame for that and i do like to see the smiles wiped off there faces but sadly they more than likely will still finish in the top 4

I think its more likely next summer, though the new manager will have a bearing on that although the reports in the papers today say that Grant is going to be given time to make an impression as he is a good mate of Abramovich and I wouldnt say Ronaldinho would player under a nobody.

Cant see Chelsea buying a player cup tied for the Champions League either.

Chelsea will be a top 4 side. It will be United at a canter I think, then Arsenal, Chelsea and ourselves close for 2nd to 5th but over 6 points behind the scum

it would be silly to write clelski off, they still have quality players and if the papers are to be believed they have 100 million to spend on new recruits, might take time for the new manager to get things right but they will still be a top 4 team

Ronaldinho rules out move to Chelsea
Monday, 1 October 2007 16:42

Barcelona star Ronaldinho has ruled out a move to Chelsea. The Brazilian had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge following Jose Mourinho's departure from the club by mutual consent a fortnight ago.

But the Barca forward, who has been injured for the last three games, has two-and-half years left on his current deal and insists he is not thinking about quitting the Nou Camp.

Ronaldinho told El Mundo: 'Not Chelsea or Milan. I want to stay with Barcelona - that is my wish, that is the wish of Ronaldinho.'

Ronaldinho's private life has been under public scrutiny in the last few weeks and that has led to accusations over his professionalism but he is determined to do his talking on the pitch.

He added: 'It [the report] has bothered me because I have been here for five seasons now and I have always been in the same position and behaved in a similar manner.

'It bothered me, but that is normal - life isn't always wonderful. I am content because my life is centred on my work and I will give my answers on the field. It is there where I will respond.'

Ronaldinho is back in the Barca squad ahead of tomorrow's Champions League clash at Stuttgart but Chelsea, who play Valencia on Wednesday, are still assessing the fitness of captain John Terry following his cheekbone fracture......
