I feel sorry for Jol. Spurs are always going to be in the same position. They have always spent big (Gazza, Lineker etc) and still underachieve. Poor Jol is a victim of the spurs curse. He is an ok manager, but he is no rafa or jose. I dont think hell be around long. He seems a very nice fellow, but now the fans have turned on him, his number is up.
They have spent a fortune alright. I always thought they were slightly overhyped to take a top 4 position this season. They conceded 52 league goals last year which is ridiculous statistic.
Its a disgrace i think jol has done great job for spurs, where they finish in the league before he came along prob between 7-10 they finished 5 last 2 years only just missed out on champ league Q 2 year ago.
I think Jol's biggest mistake was shelling out so much for Bent while he had 3 good strikers and really could have sorted his defence out properly with that money. Even if he had of shipped defoe on and then got defensive cover.
I agree, Spurs haven't had too may problems finding the net in recent seasons. Their problems lie at the back and in central midfield. Jenas & Zakora are ok but fall short when compared with the midfield of the "big four".
i feel sorry for the man, he was given money alright but from the word go this season he has been subject to loads of rumour and speculation, id honestly say he doesnt know if he is coming or going himself, not enough in midfield for spurs to break into the top four
Couldnt believe it when i flicked over and spurs were 4-1 down. Got one back now and looks like theyre gettting back into it now, dunno if theres enough time tho. On the topic of Jol, I do like him but for the amount he has spent over the past few years I think top four should have been secured by now. Definitely wont happen if the season continues on like it has to begin with.
ha ha shocking stuff, jesus theres been some amount of goals in the premiership so far this season, most ever at this stage? i can see us scoring a few against spurs at the weekend, its just keeping a clean sheet against them thats the trouble
I would have seen it the other way round, really depends on the day, but we couldnt get any past brum but our one thing we have kept up is being defensively strong!
I've no sympathy for the man. He is the one who came out and said Spurs were going to break the top 4 (pity he got end wrong) this season and get into the Champions League. He set spurs a 70 goal scored target and 30 goal conceeded target. You come out with rubbish like that and you are begging for egg on face, similar to Stans 'Im the Gaffer, the buck stops with me' quote, though aparently not as he is still employed.
I like the man, in a purely football sense of course He sends out his team to play attacking football and I'd much prefer watch a Spurs v Fulham game rather than a Man U v Chelsea game cos you know your going to see some decent attacking football. I do however agree with an earlier point whereby he should have Spurs fighting for a top 4 spot when you consider all the money he's spent. With two away games to ourselves and Newcastle coming up, his days could be severely numbered.
See t-shirts with Jol on the front are on sale in the shop at white hart lane. Were £17.99 and now £5. Can see it going down to 'free with every purchase' after the weekend
