BEATLE’S KOP BID FLOPPED BEATLES legend John Lennon was once a talented footballer with dreams of playing for Liverpool. The band’s original drummer Pete Best has told how Lennon, shot dead in 1980, always had a ball at his feet before the band found fame. Best, 67, was with the group for two years before being replaced by Ringo Starr in 1962, but fondly remembers having a kickabout with Lennon. Evertonian Pete said: “John had the best skills in the band. He could play a little bit, to be fair. “We were always kicking a ball around when time allowed, like any youngsters. “We dreamed of playing for the big clubs.†As The Beatles began to find fame, manager Brian Epstein advised them not to pledge allegiance to either Liverpool or Everton for fear of dividing fans. Sir Paul McCartney, 66, only recently admitted preferring the Blues. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/77604/Beatle-s-Kop-bid-flopped/ I allways knew there somthing about the McCartney fella that I did'nt like
