I hope i don,t get slaughtered for saying this but i have noticed a lot of spelling mistakes and i don,t think if its good at all for this site. The reason i say this is because i had a look at my nieces homework a while back and i could not believe my eyes she was spelling the way you would on a text message e.g see u ltr .Now you may say whats wrong, but this was in her homework and if we don,t tackle this we are going to have a nation of people how can,t spell properly because of text messages and Internet,i do it sometimes but i really do try to spell words properly for my own sake as much as anything. But no excuse on the Internet as there is a spell check button on the top of your computer. So again i don,t mean to have a go at anyone but if we don,t get to grips with this we will see the damage with our kids in the future

I understaond what you mean, but the people on here who say lol or imo ect. can spell. The just chooes to abdreviate. No harm in that. If we just tell our kids when they make spelling mistakes they'll learn. Well, in my opinion, at least.

Probably best that we don't go over the top on the spelling.

Banning the use of swear-words and Text-Talk etc was a great decision but it's probably best that we remember this is a football forum at heart. And if a few people aren't blessed on the spelling front then it's a bit unfair to persecute them for it.

It doesn't make their points any less valid.

We;ve had the likes of this before. some people are poor spellers - so what. Text talk on the other hand is not allowed and is ridiculous to be honest.

I couldn't be arsed about spelling either, as long as its not text speak and you can make out what the person is trying to say who cares!.

If we're on the subject though what really puts me off is people not using paragraphs or full stops. Very off putting to read a big bulk of text with no paragraphs.

Yeah, if I come across a big bulky thing won't read it. Pure laziness on my part like.

Text speak, is that lol and stuff? or is it where you leave vowels out of words, like "how are you" is "hw r u"??? Stuff like that or what?

Des - Are you a teacher?? is this a protest post ? Get us all talking about education, then on to teachers and how they are under valued etc, but I agree in principle txt talk in homework should not be allowed and in my opinion it is the parent that should be supervising homework and encourage them to not use txt talk, I am not a teacher but this would frustrate me as I would know that the child was not getting any help at home . . .

I agree but i knew this was going to happen, all i was saying at the end of your post just press spell check button it takes a few seconds to do.And again i mean,t no disrespect to anyone,it,s just that i was shocked to see my neice,s homework full of text spelling and if it,s not stopped early it will be a big problem in years to come.My brother said this will not affect her,but if she is doing exams or interveiws will they have same veiw as him

No - and you should have a word with your brother, behaviour breaths behaviour and if he doesn't care his daughter will act in a similar fashion and this may develope and affect other aspects of her life, going by what you have previously posted perhaps a more positive approach from him will ensure that this will not prop up in such a place as a future CV, it may occur in futre accidently however under the pressure of exam environment it may happen and will have adverse consequences . . .

Perhaps - you should help your niece as often as you can, I make spelling mistakes all the time but I would never use txt talk and think that children should be informed that txts talk must be restricted to txts and talking like an American avoided, that really drives me mad, an encouraging uncle will be great for your niece . . .
