In light of the US Masters that finished the weekend, I thought it would be interesting to see who people like and dislike when it comes to live commentary in sport.

Like over the course of the year on BBC we get to see The Open Golf, The US Masters Golf, Wimbledon Tennis, World Snooker then of course your football on BBC, Sky, Setanta & RTE.

Curious to see who people like to hear commentate and who people hate to listen to! Would u change channel and watch a match on a different channel because you dont like the commentators?

What do you all think of Peter Alliss on the golf? I think he is a bit slow at times and says stupid things although I like to listen to Sam Torrance, Wayne Grady & Ken Brown. When The Open is on I like Ian Baker Finch aswell. Alex Hay was a good commentator too but there is something about Alliss I dont like!

The BBC are usually the best. They are trained when to speak and when to shut up.

I hate the fella with the northern accent who does the rugby on sky "David Wallace in posession but its the ospreys who have the ball"-its mostly his accent that pisses me off though as i rarely watch the egg chasin tbh. Also,Ryle Nugent is a D4 twat and dont even get me started on George Hamilton!

The lad on setantas a prick aswell-champion is it?

Ah but next year you will have TV3 for one of the CL nights every week. The pleasure of having Packie Bonnor, John Toshack and Trevor Walsh has me in raptures :D

I can't stand listening to Jimmy Magee on the Premiership he's always around 5 seconds behind the play. I thought the BBC's coverage of The Masters was fantastic. The presentation, commentators (Peter Aliss comparing Fred Couples to a cute little labrador had me in stitches),archives, were top notch. Have to say the worst two analysts i have ever seen were on tv3 thursday night, Danny Mills & Tony Cascarino, beat that.

i cannot state Clive Tylsey, ever the champs league final in 99 I cannot listen to him as it evokes memories of that match. Ger Canning and Jimmy Me gee commentating on 'soccer' is just painful.

these days Ray Houghton, Lou Marcai and Gray do my head in

Clive Tyldesley & Alan Parry are the ones I like commentating on Football, I agree with the above about George Hamilton I cant stand listening to him. John Motson annoys me, its like he is too big to commentate on the smaller matches, he used to only commentate on England matches & the big ones. Andy Gray I aint a fan of but he has had a few good LFC Commentary bits over the years!

The Bernard Dunne fight springs to mind for bad commentary, some of the things said during the bout didnt make sense like 'Dunne has been in the ring longer than Cordoba' as if 3/4 minutes is going to make a damn bit of difference!!

The Tennis commentators can be good, McEnroe & Becker I like listening to, Billie Jean King & Chris Evert can be good too. Dont like the way Barry Davies does a bit of tennis, it doesnt work for him.

Virgo, Thorne & Dennis Taylor do good commentary on the snooker.

Cant stand George Hamilton. The amount of cock-ups he makes during games is unreal.Sometimes i think he just makes it up as he goes along.
Darragh Maloney is not too bad though.

Don't like Ryal "i'm a D4 ponse" Nugent on the ruggerby either.

Clive Tyldesley & Alan Parry are the ones I like commentating on Football,

if you listen to clive tyldesley closely he will make refrences to about 20 other games while hes commentating on one game.

I don't listen to punditry all that much, but brian kerr is my favourite by a long long way. he is actually across so much football and has great knowledge of the game.

He can go from League of Ireland to Bundesliga to English League in an instant. a great footballing man.

I like Des Curran on Setanta, wish they'd get rid of your man lou macari.

dunphy is an idiot but at least he convinces himself he knows what he's talking about-la liga expert my ass.
giles is senile and hasn't a clue about any other european teams bar english clubs
ronnie whelan-goon of the highest order

roddy collins though PWNS them all when it comes to being the biggest gimp imaginable.
