thinking of getting a console so i can game online ( like vince vaughan in the break up ) used to be a whizz at atari 2600 , sega , nintendo , super nintendo with cavity block game disks etc was thinking of a 80gb PS3 ???? get it brand new for €199 trade or an xbox 360 personally ive been using playstations most my life and dont think you can get better , just want some opinions before i get one
personally i think the ps3 is overrated.I have a 360 and ps3 and barely play the ps3. Imo 360 is yer only man
Alright fair play, they're the type of brother in laws you need in a recession! Have been a pro evo man on the PS2 for years and am looking forward to continuing the trend on the PS3 at some stage!

I agree fella. I've got both ther PS3 and 360. I've yet to play with a mate on-line PS3,it's next to impossible to see who's on-line,invite them etc... The 360 has to most user friendly dashboard of the tow,at the click of a button you can see who's on-line,what they'r eplaying,chat,send messages,invite them to a game,etc. Basically if an on-line game come sout for both consoles I buy it for the 360,if it's PS exclusive or a single player game then I go for the PS3. I think the PS3 will eventually blow the 360 away in terms of graphics etc.. but for on-line accesability and ease of use I'm not sure it'll ever catch up. Just IMHO of course.

You can stream movies,music and photos from your PC to your 360 just like you can to your PS3. No need to save them to the HDD just stream mate.
get a grip the lot of ya, ps3 is the best console out there, xbox where good but day had there day, besides the xbox sounds like a hover when its on. anyone who wants a game online ps3 for pes give me a post

Don't really want to get into a my console is better than yours or my Da is bigger than yours,I'm not 5,but seeing as I actually own both machines I think I'm entitled to my opinion. First off the Xbox has had it's day? You're talking about it like it's been and gone,the xbox is still very much of today and while games like Gears of war and Halo are around it'll be around for quite some time. There's no doubting that the PS3 is the more sofisticated piece of kit but the original poster asked which is better for on-line gaming and in that regards the 360 wins hands down.
Meh...makes no odds to me. I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you buy,90% of games are available on both consoles anyways. Enjoy fella.
well if you can get a PS3 as cheap as 199, need blu-ray, dont fancy paying for online gaming, multimedia uses, its your only choice. xbox isnt far off though and IMO i reckon ps3 will not streak ahead in terms of graphics and performance as its very difficult to program for. in fact, most multi-platform titles start life on the 360.
360 is not that noisy at all and ive heard friend's ps3s not sounding the quietiest either. if you are so fussy about noise, buy a sega megadrive!
