Now i know Dub13 will be aware of this but i was wondering whether it is feasible to have a thanks system similar to that operated on boards...it would operate as an acknowledgement to those who make good contributions to the site... Anyway, used in the right way it might be a positive to the site...I'm not sure whether it would be difficult to code or not but it's a suggestion all the same...
No, it would be an option on the above posters comment beside the quote function...i will link you to boards.ie to demonstrate...http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055335094&page=895 Look for the thumbs up beside the quick reply function and then a few posts down you see thanks given...
Its an idea I have looked into before as its a nice little feature.Without getting two technical this requires modifying the code as its not an officially hack (and therefore no official support). Its basically a lot of work and not worth the hassle. I will however be doing some work like this in the future on the site and will add it on then. You have to remember boards.ie has 3 full time employees to do all the donkey work so they get everything super fast.
What about a kind of OFF TOPIC OFF TOPIC thread(Just one) for like-When you log in you can say hello, goodbye, general chit chat that doesnt fit anywear else and would maybe prevent a lot of threads that only need or get 1 or 2 answers?, im new so u can tell me to get lost if u want just a way to get to know some other posters from a new members perspective, because we dont know anybody enough to PM them, ok im going now............
Ok il try and simplify, when someone logs in they can go to "this" thread, call it want you want, say hello, so others know whos active, ask day to day questions without starting a thread every time. it can all be kept in the one???say goodbye. i know it says whos online at bottom of main page, but there not all necessarily active. as a new member it would be nice to get to know people. just a thought
Feel free to start a off topic thread in the Off topic forum,we will see how it goes. A thread for just shooting the breeze could work.
