Barca were supposedly unbeatable in 05!!! When it comes to LFC in europe you can rip up the form book. I cant wait for this game.
Alonso back pulling the strings will mean so much for us as an attacking force. multiply this by 10 if Stevie plays.

i reckon if our defense gets the house in order we could get a clean sheet and if stevie plays maybe an away goal.

Steven Gerrard has been named in the Liverpool squad to travel to Spain on Tuesday morning for the Champions League first leg clash with Real Madrid.
The Liverpool skipper, who has been sidelined for three weeks with hamstring trouble, came through a training session at Melwood this morning and will be on the flight with the rest of the squad tomorrow.

Manager Rafael Benitez confirmed: "Steven will be in the squad. He was okay in training this morning.

"It was a special training session so we were not testing him one hundred per cent, but he trained okay so we will see."

The team need to pick their heads up now, three days isn't a lot of time to get over the disappointment of dropping the two points yesterday that put us 7 points (and maybe too far) behind. I for one am still depressed, hope we get something to cheer about on wednesday. Come on you reds!

Massive game but we are a different team in europe compared to us in the league, rafa hardly ever gets it wrong in europe and we should have a near enough full squad to choose from.

With gerrard back i think we do have enough to come away with a 1-0 but id settle for a score draw, you have to love that away goal.

All comes to all just keep the leg alive cause at anfield we can beat anyone.

Last year after the humiliation of losing to barnsley, we picked ourselves up to beat Inter and pretty much save our season. With the league all but gone, this is our one hope of adding silverware. Rafa has an excellent record against Spanish sides, so here's hoping that continues.

Am i the only one who's dead confident of winning both legs?Said the same about Barca 2 years ago and Inter the last time-all these big name continental sides are over-rated imo-no bottle, fight or mentality!

I'm sure we'll be tight defensively and look to hit them on the break to get an away goal. We are usually super organised for tricky away Euro games.

i,m a bit worried about this 1 to be honest, real madrid have been knocked out at this stage in the last 4 years so might be due a change in luck, ramos has a good record in the cups and has them playing well,i think we,l have to score on wednesday to get through over 2 legs, come on the reds....

I will be shocked if we lose and surprised if we dont win. Most fans and players (and manager) have had their eye on this one for too long.

2 nil Gerrard x2 goals, possibly 3-0 Torres.

Dont know what to think about this one, Real are on a bit of a run at the moment, and sure they put 6 past Betis there in the 1st half over the weekend & I dread the thought they might stick 2 or 3 past us but on the other hand I think we are Liverpool Football Club & we will come good tomorrow night & get what we need to bring them back to Anfield to finish them off.

I'd settle for a score draw.... and then take them at home.. BUT..

I can see us winning this one, our defence is much better than theirs, and if Stevie & Nando are firing, we'll win 2-0.

    C'mon the Reds!!!

Id take the score draw, Id be delighted but surprised if we won, Real have conceeded 2 in 10 or something like that, our defence isnt that much better look at the goals we conceeded against the bitters if other teams are doing their homework and I think Ramos does.

I also can see Stevie only being up for an hour or so so does Rafa start with him and lose him for the last third of the game when you would expect Real to pick it up or keep him for the last third to come on and try and nick something.

I dont see this as being anywhere near as easy as some, our form and Reals are polar opposites from when the draw was made. Our one big advantage is Nando for the counter attack as we know Real play like the gooners they just attack on the basis if your defending you cant score against them so Id have both Babel and Riera playing to give our front line some real pace for quick breaks.
