This guy as I've said before on the old forum is a player I really admire. Every time I've seen him play in last few seasons he brings a spark of life to the game with his tricks and willingness to take on defenders. Would definately gives us the flair required, to open up disciplined defences, that can sometimes be missing from our play. Would rather him than simao or malouda if we had 15m to spend on a winger.
He was young when he was at Barca.............

some great skill and goals in that youtube clip. Don't know much about him but he seems pretty useful on both wings and can cross pretty well, which for some reason our wing players had a problem with this season (especially from corner kicks, which drove me mental)

would welcome him more than simao.

Good point about the corners redeagle. When I noticed it first I kept making excuses for them because of the space available / size of of pitch etc but the truth is we were crap, so many times failing to get it past the first defender.

It was a worry. Set pieces are integral, an a clever one can unlock the meanest defences ( ala Agger against bluescum). I'm sure senor benitez has taken note and improvements will be seen next year.

Quaresma reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo. A true "flair" player. I really hope we sign him but don't think Benitez generally goes for flair players. Maybe a cheeky bid for Kevin Kilbane might prise him away from ???? I wouldn't have had Simao down as high on defensive capabilites either though. Benfica must be holding out for more money for him as well if the deal isn't done by now.

True the money on trying to gte him the last time caused a few problems, his defensive qualities are limited but better than quaresma which is why Rafa will sign simao before or over quaresma. seems like babel from ajax will be coming instead of one of them. quaresma threw a hissy-fit a Barca when he wouldn't play where the Rijkaard wanted him to which is why Rafa won't sign him, he would see that attitude as of bad quality

The Benfica fans protest had something to do with the deal not going through last time as well didn't it? I suppose its much of a muchness but I'd still lean towards Quaresma. You're right there about attitude though, Rafa see's it as an important quality in a player to be adaptive and patient so they adhere to his policies, he won't touch them if he senses its not right. You're man Babel isn't exactly proven at the top level but he has age on his side

Not too sure whether this would be the same issue for Quaresma although i would welcome the chance to find out... Watched him for Portugal in a friendly against Brazil last year and he was unreal, totally outperformed Ronaldo on the night..
